What will happen to the internet? How would we trade Bitcoins? Does bitcoin need a server to go through transactions??
It seemed like a good idea at the time.

bitcoin is p2p so no server is required. the US economy already tanked and we saw what happened. If you mean what will happen to bitcoin value, one can only speculate. Some people see bitcoin as a kind of gold because of its inherent scarcity.
