New York BDSM Facility now taking Bitcoins.

We offer a 10% discount off our cash rate for sessions booked and paid in Bitcoin a week in advance. I won't go into the specifics of all of the fetishes we cater to- this forum is not really the place for it and if you are into that sort of thing chances are you know who we are, but we have the best reviews and reputation of any Dungeon on the East Coast.

http://www.FortressNYC.com (NSFW, "R" Nudity, nothing explicit)

Mods: As far as I can tell this does not violate the Marketplace Rules and Guidelines, our services are entirely legal and we have a well established reputation as a legal, non-sexual facility. That being said I've lurked a little while here and I know there is a small but vocal "holier than thou" contingent.  We're a brick and mortar business located in a State that is already planning to go after Bitcoins and we've stepped up to accept the currency in fairly substantial amounts. That's enough of a potential benefit to the community that I think it should be taken into account when considering the unusual nature of our services. It would be a shame for Bitcoin to repeat the mistakes of Betamax. Thank you.

FWIW, Jessy, I'd be surprised if there's any criticism of your post. Even if someone had a personal problem with your business (which I don't think most people around here do), it is legal, which is what the "holier than thou" contingent seems to be going after.

I'm not in NYC and I'm pretty vanilla anyway, but established brick-and-mortar businesses accepting bitcoins, even niche businesses, is only good news to me.

Welcome to the Bitcoin community.  Smiley

Your post should be okay.  There's a few advertisements for "porn for bitcoins" floating around the forum that don't seem to be a problem.  You may want to try putting an entry on the Trade page on the wiki as well.  There were some porn links on there that someone removed on the (somewhat ridiculous) technicality that uncensored porn is illegal in Japan, where the wiki is hosted.  I've never heard of BDSM being illegal there though.

Thanks folks, appreciate the support- kind of feeling a little queasy Undecided being (I think?) the first brick and mortar business in NYC to do this.

For those of you in NYC I'll be at the Bitcoin Meetup tomorrow night:

Thanks for informing me about the meetup. I'll be there.. I personally wouldn't feel the least bit bad about accepting BitCoins for anything because we all know the value of them are on the up and up.

Jessy,

While I'm not into the services that your establishment offers, I think it is great that you accept BitCoin as a form of payment.
My best to you and your efforts!

Oh, no concern about the value. I'm very, very concerned about being made an example of as a brick and mortar location accepting Bitcoins. We're a small, woman owned business- but we are also an Adult business which makes us fair game in the eyes of many politicians. The tinfoil hat anarchist brigade has little to lose and the advantage of tough talk from behind tor or at least a proxy. Unlike all but a very few forum members I am a merchant with a physical location. Whatever the Governments impression of the Bitcoin- I'm at the front of the line to be held accountable for it.

welcome to the community! I myself partake regularly of BDSM, though no where near NYC.

I think its very brave of you to make this offering, and another brick in the road of our bitcoined future. Cheesy good luck!

This site is amazing!  Well done.  If I were in New York, I'd be making plans immediately.

Jessy, you make a good point that by having a physical presence you might get targetted. You might want to read up on these PR points, so any discussions you have with media, politicians, etc. don't hurt Bitcoin: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Public_relations

Keep on spankin'

There's bound to be a great market among Bitcoin's early adopters, for this. As an agent of the Eeeeevil State, you use your http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber-hose_cryptanalysis techniques to make them divulge their keys.  Tongue

Bravo on accepting bitcoin *applause*, I'm nowhere near you, but here to offer the support and encouragement to keep it up. It will be the brick and mortar business owners who will give bitcoin a "purpose" in the eyes of those that don't understand it.

As to your concerns about being a target, silk road has used up most of the red paint for right now. As long as you gal's stay true to the termination of sessions because of customers asking for "extras" or "happy endings" I see no reason to need to worry about being a target, unless of course you're worried about being branded with a red "A".
