Reddit News Site Now Accepts Bitcoin

The anonymous digital currency Bitcoin, which is already accepted on the Wordpress blogging site, has another mainstream partner. Reddit, the social news and entertainment site, now accepts bitcoins as payment for Reddit Gold, a subscription service.

...
Even though the cryptocurrency has a less than pristine reputation, prominent companies have begun accepting it.

"Despite its considerable potential, Bitcoin is still very new, experimental, and no one really knows what will happen with it and what people will do with it," says Reddit CEO Yishan Wong in a post on reddit. "This means that there is the possibility that unexpected or bad things happen, and we may have to modify or suspend our implementation of Bitcoin support if that happens."

Good, it would be nice to see even more press out of this because if I'm honest I'm kind of disappointed by the amount we got so far.

My personality type: INTJ - please forgive my weaknesses (Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times, tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, tend to believe I'm always right)

Yea, it's been a surprisingly muted response.

Muted is good unless you are just looking for a quick bubble hype mania to profit from noobs.  I see Bitcoin as a marathon not a sprint.   Time and steady growth (in features, adoption, security, clients, merchants, press) is all it needs.

I'm not lookin' to profit off anyone as I'm not a trader.  I just like to see big news stories and good coverage.  It just seems like if Gallagher did an AMA it would be more noted than this Cheesy

When too much noise is made about bitcoin, detractors are prone to point out that bitcoin users try to attract new users to whom they can sell their bitcoins at a record high.  So media noise about bitcoin really makes it look like a Ponzi scheme.

It's much better if media shut the f..k up about bitcoin and let bitcoin users use it with serenity.

We should aim at going forward sans tambour ni trompette (without trumpet or drum), as we say in french.
