I hear an awful lot about them but most of the banter seems to be on pre-orders and wait times. If I was a scammer I would do exactly that - promise the world, take people's money and keep them waiting in perpetuity. These things have been 'just around the corner' now since last October.

Those are some cool rig photos and there is obviously someone out there getting over 60 000 mhps but it just doesn't seem tangible, as in I haven't spoken to anyone that actually has one. It's like legendary mythical vapourware that everyone speaks of but no one has.

If they exist for the masses then why doesn't anyone seemingly have one. Anyone??  anyone Huh Bueller ??

You really should try to read up more on the industry before making a complete fool out of yourself....

Modcom,
I can assure you that I've been doing my reading. Do you own an ASIC? Do you know anyone that does? Or did you pre-order and are still waiting?

cAPSLOCK !! You're the man I want to hear from!
Just for clarity I don't belive they DON'T exist, I'm just not convinced that they do .. if that makes sense.

How did you get your's? Does it perform as it was sold? Is it difficult to configure? Do you have a photo? Are you in the US or another country?

tbcoin,
I don't mean any disrespect towards you, but your links are just 'more of the same' meaning that they are basically hear-say: Graphs of mhps rates, pictures of rigs that aren't ASICS and links to user profiles don't really show much. Again, I don't mean to be a dick, but I'm just looking for hardcore proof other than slick websites from Avalon, promises of delivery and hearsay. I want ot order an ASIC myself but $12 or $15 hundred bucks isn't something I want to throw into the winds of uncertainty.

I'm really curious as to what cAPSLOCK has to say.

They're real, but unless you're on the earliest of the early lists, trying to get one is pointless.

I ordered one from ButterFly Labs.  If it shows up in 2013, I will be pleasantly surprised.  I don't expect to make a profit, but I will be fun to play with.

just now, like in the last week, the very first ASIC hash has come online.

The operator of BTCGuild admits as much, and he has been as skeptical as anyone

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

I guess I should have titled the thread "Does anyone here have an ASIC", and then gone on to ask questions about whether they met your expectations and how hard are they to get. It's just they seem ever so elusive.

I already told you who have ASIC in this forum and his blog, where he publish a personal review. You can ask him.

Now I feel kinda guilty.

The brand of running shoes I use is ASICS.  Thus the picture.  I thought everyone would get the joke.

I got the joke!  It's funny how many times the shoe brand has shown up in Google searches I have done over the past couple months.  I wonder if they've caught a wave of buyers recently.  *ASICS - The official shoe of Bitcoin *

I thought it was worth a punt so I've pre-ordered one from Butterfly Labs. You don't have to sped thousands of dollars, the Butterfly I ones start at $150. Don't know if I'll actually make any money but I'll at least get a kick from having something cutting edge and frankly amazing if it can perform as advertised; I'd love to know how they work better
