Try it without the raiser, if that doesnt work you may have a faulty motherboard or GPU

it's the motherboard then, what motherboard are you using?

i know for certain(because it's my motherboard for gaming) that the asrock extreme 4 z97 for example does not support gpu on the x1 slot or riser used for gpu, due to a pin issue on the slot x1

you need the asrock h81 pro btc or somethign else that is used for these things

R9 does not support pcie 1X.

It requires "PCI Express x16" slot.

Make sure you use a powered riser and check to see if you need to short out two
pins in the x1 slot to allow high power. Google it.

The nano is new so it might need newer drivers. If the 240 doesn't work in the x16 slot without the riser it might
be a bad mobo. If it does work it's probably a bad riser.

Do you have more than one riser? One of them is bad.

- the riser on the P45 with the 240 works
- the riser on the P45 with the nano doesn't work
- the riser on the Z97 doesn't work with either card
- the nano works on the Z97 works without a riser

Not true. I use the nano on the x1 slot without problem. For some motherboarads, you need to short the card presence pin.

I use 6x nano on a H81 Pro BTC board, also got one with the B95 Anniversary board.

Works perfectly on those x1 slots.

I "had" a few furies as well, also with risers, also connected with risers to a x1 slot (MSI z97 Gaming 5 Board).

Dunno where all you guys find all those issues :p

Riser perhaps?

That is an outright lie. I run numerous R9-380's on 6 GPU Rigs. Speaking from experience not my a$$
