Previously, user-generated links would often open in a new window/tab. However, kcud_dab found out that there are security issues with this, so I removed it. You'll have to middle-click links if you want them to open in a new tab.

If people find this disruptive, I could add rel=noreferrer to some of the target=_blank links, but then referrer info would never be sent, which might be undesirable.

Very good example made by kcud_dab to show the vulnerability live. I have been using target=_blank in many of my sites and will now take care of thins , but still the right clicking in link and selecting open in new tab will prevent this?

Yeah, that's fine. The issue seems to be that when there's a target="_blank" link, the browser considers the new window/tab to be a "child" of the original page. This is a holdover from an era when popup windows were commonly used for all sorts of things, and the "target" attribute was used to affect the child pop-ups of a website.

How about if I click Ctrl+Click? I usually always do that, hate opening links in same tab. Thanks Kcud_dab (first time I've seen you btw, greetings! Smiley )

Would it be possible to have the "rel=noreferrer" option be a user setting (it would be essentially if a link will open in a new tab or not)?

I personally do not mind that my referrer info will not be sent (I believe this actually somewhat increases privacy), and I do find it annoying that links do not open in a new tab as I often need to come back to where the link was posted in order respond to the post containing the link.

Aha! I wondered if links had always opened in the same tab and I just didn't notice! Well, if it's a security risk then I'm glad it's a simple fix. Thanks kcud_dab!

I know a friend of a friend of a friend paid through me that would be more than happen to hard-code this in the new forum for ONLY U$225K.

Seriously, so that's what the right side of the mouse/pad (in my case) is used for. I'm learning all kinds of neat stuff on this laptop this week. Last week I learnt that I could use the numbers on the right side as well as the numbers on the top row to embed numbers.

EDIT: I just found another ENTER key on this keyboard. I wonder what it does.

yeah that is right that links are not opening in new tab because it changed but i think if any one want to open that link in new tab then ctrl and click then that link will open in new tab.
but this good that you have changed that setting it is good with that mode.
