obviously this is really good for bitcoin community, not only because gamers enthusiasts are now able to buy his keys with bitcoins, also because now there will be lot of "new" users who will know about what bitcoin is or at least will know that this exist, so in the end is a good propaganda.

btw a really good thing will be that we can purchase keys with bitcoin cheaper than with fiat money, but this will not happen

Who cares about if people use it or not, it's free publicity for Bitcoin anyway. And we are still on the early stages of Bitcoin, of course most people will keep using what they are used to use. If they have to buy Bitcoin to buy a steam game, that's pretty dumb, but if you get paid in Bitcoin, then everything changes, you are more prone to spend it.

Yeah mate I fully agree with you, the most important thing is not the possibility to buy games on Steam with Bitcoin but the massive exposure Bitcoin will gain to the whole gaming community on Steam which encompasses people from every country and continent. Imagine if half of these people become Bitcoin users and the positive effect it would have on the price and general adoption. Getting Bitcoin on Steam is a huge step towards making Bitcoin mainstream.

Well its great for the gamers on pc but what about for the ones on consoles they still pay using CC or paypal at higher prices , I might have to change to Pc instead.

I'm very happy about this, not too long ago, it would have seemed almost impossible that Steam would accept Bitcoin any time soon.

It is nice that Steam is now accepting Bitcoin because many people use Bitcoin as their only payment method so that is so perfect now for them and also for Steam itself.
So you are now making it both more popular and that is quite nice for them both.

It seems that it is only available at US and Europe at the moment, i also can't see the options to pay with bitcoin. All we can do now is wait for it to be available worldwide.

No I think it's for everyone because yesterday it was working, the Bitcoin logo was right there and I just checked today on my Steam account after reading your comment and it's missing so I guess maybe Valve is having some sort of issue with BitPay or something. I don't mind if they take as much time as needed to fix this so we can have a smoother experience buying stuff with Bitcoin later on.

No there were some minor bugs last night when it went online.Therefore it will be fixed and relaunched today.
It is posted on reddit by an bitpay employee (Mr.Glaze).

The payment option will be re-enabled tomorrow. A small/med sized issue needed to be tended to. Since it is getting late on both coasts... we will resume transaction monitoring tomorrow. I will come back here and tell you when it's "game on" again and keep folks posted... believe me, we are excited and can't want to see those transactions start back up (once the kinks are all knocked out)... this is gonna help so many people!

Code ready to deploy to address an issue that impacted a small group of customers.

Since it is getting late @ BitPay and Valve we are waiting until tomorrow to re-launch...

This is so we can closely monitor the transactions and make sure things are going nice and smooth for everyone.

yes this is good news,i think people(gamer) who dont know about bitcoin will start interest to bitcoin when they know bitcoin can used for buy something in steam,its good way to spread bitcoin.
