There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Please include the name of the publication linked to, statspotting in this case. You're doing a commendable job of rooting out press mentions, including the source in the title will make it easier to avoid duplicates.

Will try, I tend to do these from the iPad, and it gets complicated with all the cutting and pasting. But I'll give it a shot from now on.
