The DAO

The DAO’s Mission: To blaze a new path in business organization for the betterment of its members, existing simultaneously nowhere and everywhere and operating solely with the steadfast iron will of unstoppable code.

Created Once. Endless opportunities.

DAOs will be at the center of many economies going forward and intend to be at the forefront of supporting innovative and promising projects, products and services in order to become 'The DAO': A flexible decentralized autonomous organization leveraging the wisdom of the crowds to benefit the DAO Token Holders.

Profits. Ethics. Technology.

The DAO is a for-profit DAO that will diligently use the ETH under its control to create value and provide benefits to its members while collaborating and improving the decentralised ecosystem as a whole.

Multiple Projects, Several Contractors

While there is a particular interest in the sharing economy and IoT applications of the blockchain, The DAO is not limited to these market verticals. It is open to exploring any and all new markets unlocked by blockchain technology.

The DAO’s Token Holders debate the viability and profitability of Proposals on or off-chain through its forums.

The Slock/Dao starts today and the Mycelium starts tomorrow. I wonder if they will take away from each other?

I don't get it, you buy DAO tokens just so you have the ability to discuss proposals? Sounds worthless in that regard...why not just create a different forum and do the same thing there? I'm genuinely curious, not bashing this. Just don't have time to read the paper at the moment Smiley

The best way I can explain is that tokens work like a vote, much like a vote on the board of a business organization.

The way i understood it, it is basically like buying shares of a virtual company. The ETH used to buy the DAO tokens is used to fund projects, which are supposed to generate more ETH for the DAO, thus increasing the value of DAO tokens. Did I miss something?

The DAO’s tokens:

Allow the holder to vote on any expenditure The DAO could make
Are fully transferable. They can be traded peer-to-peer or on an exchange
Represent a relative portion of The DAO's crypto assets at any given time

The section in red is what you need to retain

I really dont see the value in it either ,but the Mycelium product is well known enough to cause it to pump.

Well it could serious traction and that is the reason why they are getting funding. Like use as a corporate BTC wallet or something similar.

This is a similar concept to BitShares. BTS holders can vote and fund whatever projects they believe will increase the value of BTS the most. https://cryptofresh.com/workers

Unfortunately many holders are lazy and don't want to participate so you have poor decision making and voter apathy (partly addressed by allowing people to proxy their vote) and there's very little checks and balances for those that receive the funds.

Basically it's very challenging for a decentralized community to manage in a profitable way and if it was easy, BTS would be more successful as they've had a similar 'vote + fund' option for profitable projects for over a year.

So these DAO tokens will still be able to be traded on exchanges?

But I'm also talking about at launch.  Will it be traded on exchanges like Polo or Bittrex or Kraken?
