If btc was more popular than usd then we would be sitting far higher than 450 dollars right now. So to answer your question, no. Not by far unfortunately.

It's the case for Gold because it exists since "forever" a while Bitcoin exists since seven years so nop .. It's not more popular then USD or any other fiat currency.

Not at all. Have you seen more BTC users that USD users? I mean just look around you. USD is being every day in US shops and it is like the global currency through which everyone compares other currencies. In short, BTC is not more popular than USD by a long mile.

It is not more popular but what's sure is it's safer, better and pricier. Invest in bitcoin when you still can before Bitcoin take the leading role Wink !

The supply of bitcoin is also much smaller than usd, As far as im aware usd can have practically an unlimited amount so is valued somewhat differently to bitcoin.

Have you been locked in sensory deprivation since birth? I'm gonna guess that bitcoin is about 0.00001% as popular as the dollar.

Bitcoin is still in its infancy phase, its only 7 years old, media have done quite a lot to make it look like the favorite currency of the criminals in deepweb so to answer your question, no its not as popular and I am afraid will not be anytime soon.

To be honest I love this kind of threads, it's like the OP has been living under a rock in mars. OP how can you even begin to considerate if Bitcoin is more popular than the USD? I mean im laughing right now IRL. If Bitcoin was as popular as USD, anyone holding 1.000.000 satoshis would be a millonaire!

It isn't, USD is much more popular than bitcoin, the number of bitcoin that will be in total is fixed but usd can be re-produce whenever the government want (which decreases the value of dollar itself).

I find it hard to believe someone needs to ask if the USD/Petro Dollar is less popular than BTC. Crazy talk, BTC is nowhere near more popular and never will be unless the USD collapses in the future.

US DOLLAR is fiat money and it is property of government (Banks).
Which s better? We all know that answer, but which have more power and we all know USD!
Bitcoin is too small to attack an system, built few hundred years ago and established so well that many people don't even realized and don't know who controlling the world and how.

Totally agree! This question is the funniest and common sense related I ever read at Bitcointalk. If Bitcoin is being used more than USD, today, Bitcointalk will probably be filled with a lot of posts every second - more than twitter's tweets!

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

USD DOLLAR is fiat money. This money is the most traded currency in the forex market and this most commonly converted currency in the world. So what do you think who will win. The bitcoin that cant buy directly all the things in market or the USD that can buy all the things directly. We all know that bitcoin cant buy directly so we need USD, so that we can buy all the things we want to buy. Bitcoin cant match USD even if the price of bitcoin is higher than USD.

Nope. Try asking a random stranger and ask them if they know BTC. Some might say yes to that question but without even asking them if they know USD, the answer is automatically yes because they use USD everyday.

BTC on the other hand is just for people who spends time on the Internet and/or has a friend who introduced him/her to bitcoin. USD has been around for decades and BTC is just starting to gain popularity. I'd say that BTC is sort of becoming popular to some areas but not all that knows bitcoin uses bitcoin.

I bet 80% of the population in the world knows USD and has seen one while there's really small percentage of people who knows BTC and I think they haven't seen a physical BTC coin. Like me, I've known and I have BTC for so long but I've never seen a physical BTC coin personally. Smiley

Lol I think USD is one reason why satoshi nakamoto make bitcoin, because we know USD is not complex... because USD need more attention to use it like Transaction and etc.... it's why satoshi nakamoto make bitcoin..... but we know bitcoin is only simple and complex form from USD.....

Bitcoin has a market capitalization of 7 billion.

If you use Google, you can see that in contrast there are 1.45 trillion US dollars in circulation.
