A Hindu tailor who had been briefly jailed several years ago over accusations that he made an unfavorable comment about the Prophet Muhammad was hacked to death on Saturday near his shop in central Bangladesh, the police said.

Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for the killing, citing the accusations of blasphemy against the tailor, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist websites.

Mohammad Abdul Jalil, the officer in charge of the Gopalpur police station in the Tangail district, a central region where the attack occurred, said in a telephone interview that it was too early to determine the motivation of the assailants or whether they were Islamist militants.

Similar attacks claimed by the militants seem to be accelerating, with five people hacked to death in the past nine days.

The latest victim, Nikhil Chandra Joarder, 52, was jailed in 2012 after being accused of making a negative comment about the prophet. He was also involved in disputes with members of his family and some local Muslims over land, Mr. Jalil said.

Mr. Joarder, who lived in the Dubail Bazar area in the jurisdiction of the Gopalpur police station, owned a tailoring shop nearby, Mr. Jalil said. He had stepped outside his shop, and around noon two or three men arrived on motorcycles and cut him on his head, his neck, his face and a hand, said Mohammad Aslam Khan, a police official in the Tangail district.

Mr. Joarder died on the spot, Mr. Jalil said, and Mr. Khan said the assailants had left a bag containing two machetes and four bombs.

The 2012 case against Mr. Joarder was filed by a local madrasa teacher, who accused him of making derogatory remarks about the prophet, Mr. Khan said. Mr. Joarder was jailed for 14 days, before the claims were withdrawn.

Over the past two years, intellectuals, writers, members of religious minorities and activists who have published views critical of Islam have been killed by extremists in Bangladesh.

Police arrested Badsa Miah, Jamaat secretary of Gopalpur municipal unit, local BNP activist Jhantu Mia and a local journalist and Gopalpur Press Club’s vice-president Aminul Islam for the murder.

No free speech eh, religion kills again.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is the Bengali version of the ISIS. Ever since Bangladesh attained independence from Pakistan in 1971, this party has been trying to exterminate the Hindus and Buddhists living in that country. Every year they get tens of millions of USD in funds from various GCC nations such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait.

At this rate all Syrians will migrate out of the country, leaving ISIS to live there all by themselves.

Epic!!!!

Dude, this incident happened in the South Asian nation of Bangladesh, and not in Syria.

For your information, ISIS has spread beyond Iraq and Syria, thanks to funding and support from countries such as Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. They are now active in Libya, Yemen, Nigeria (Boko Haram), Sinai (Ansar Bait al-Maqdis), Philippines (Abu Sayyaf), Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and at least a dozen other nations.

This is an accurate information because there is a video of Abu Sayyaf that they do recognize ISIS
and put their faith on this well-known terror group which is the ISIS'.
They are putting fear in the hearts of the people and still including innocent young child to their crimes.

The Philippine army had almost managed to wipe out Abu Sayyaf. They were down to a few dozen fighters. The group was desperate, and their pledge of allegiance to ISIS was a last ditch effort to stay alive. I am afraid that more and more terrorist organizations (around the world) will follow this example, and pledge allegiance to the ISIS.

The Philippine army, yes they managed and almost wiped them out.
But because of money, abu sayyaf just keep on recruiting young fighters to join them not knowing what
really is the goal of that rebel group but just for the sake of money.

Bangladesh is the typical example of a secular Muslim country. The governing party (Awami League) is fiercely secular, but they are afraid to take action against the hard-line Islamists. The Awami League government had taken some bold steps in the past. These included the hanging of genocide perpetrators such as Abdul Quader Molla, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, and Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury. They had also banned Islamist parties such as the Jamaat-e-Islami. Still, they are afraid to cross the limit, fearful of a communal polarization.
