Am I correct in thinking I can register a .bit domain for 1yr for 1 namecoin?

If so how much do you want for 2.5 namecoins? ( already have .5 from slow ass Nvidia mining @ 5Mhash/s )

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Ah i'm wrong but i'm still not quite sure how it works.

We are in the Namecoin goldrush period, so the cost of a domain goes down every few blocks.  The price as I write this (at block 10,000) is 22.24 Namecoins.   The cost will be 1 Namecoin at block 46,900.  The cost will be 0.01 Namecoin at block 96,431.  Then the goldrush is over, and the price for a name_firstupdate remains at 0.01 Namecoins.
