My husband guesses .00001 BTC. He says it is really about your own IOUs.
I am guessing .00002 BTC, because I am optimistic.

The bitcoin adoption trend may give you some clues. First - not much due to complete ignorance of people with regards to how to value Ripples Second - possibly some over excitement (comparable to first BTC price crash) Third - price finding phase through actual market mechanism operating on first material volumes Fourth - will it get past the innovator phase as bitcoin seems to have managed?
Until then it is pure speculation...

Is it true that unlike BTC, the creators of ripple actually own all of the currency to start with?

Yes, I think so. Nice profile pic by the way, the new Bitcoin symbol against a wave.

Ripple has a lot of work to do before it is something usable. Even if people from this forum have such a hard time using ripple to do a simple transaction. How in the hell you expect less technical people will ever use this. Compared to ripple, using Bitcoin is super simple.

If you have a ripple.com account (funded or not) you can go to the Advanced -> Trade tab. Pick BTC/XRP or USD/XRP from the dropdown menu and select change issuer to set the issuer to rvYAfWj5gh67oV6fW32ZzP3Aw4Eubs59B; this is the address of bitstamp.net, and it *should* fill that in. At that point you'll be able to see an order book for BTC bitstamp.net / XRP or USD bitstamp.net / XRP. Both of them are *extremely* sparse right now; liquidity should increase over time.

Also, there's good reason to believe that XRP will be dirt cheap for a long time. The giveaways will keep price down for a while. After that, whenever starting an account gets too expensive, the reserve requirements will be lowered, which will free up a lot of XRP and lower the price. Anybody who thinks the price is going to take off like Bitcoin isn't thinking very hard.

Well it depends how much bitcoin will be worth 1 year from now. But anways, I think it won't be that much considering there's a million+ of them in circulation.
