if you're expecting to get a sure answer to this you're going to be disappointed. no one knows what will happen in 10 years. my speculation: yes, bitcoin will still be the most used cryptocurrency.

Trusted an exchange that climbed to the top 3 in just under 2 years with your money? you are fucking stupid.

I say yes. Ten years seems like a long time but bitcoin is already 7 years old and it's dominant by a wide margin. If crypto is still around in 10 years then I'm pretty sure it'll still be dominant.

Bitcoin will continue to be the most dominant cryptocurrency. No other coins have the market adoption. No other coins have the mindshare of the general population. No other coins have the public utility. Bitcoin is the standard bearer, all other coins are copies.

With the number of shit coins that came out after all these years, nope it would take some darn good devs to actually even come up with one more innovative than Bitcoin, than again if that happens, it will take years for mass adoption, by then Bitcoin would already be prevalent everywhere

it is too hard to predict the bitcoin state in 10 years, because by that time there might be even better technology that can easily replace bitcoin. but it is also possible that bitcoin become one of the best and most used cryptocurrencies by then.

I think bitcoin will still be the preferred cryptocurrency even after ten years. Is it possible something better than bitcoin will be created? Sure, it's possible. But it has got to be something profoundly better than bitcoin in most ways. And if that better than bitcoin cryptocurrency does come, it will have to weather the test of time just like bitcoin has done and continues to do.

I think so. There's just so much to lose if bitcoin would be takeover by some other coin. The fact that merchants aren't even accepting other coin that claims to be better than btc and until they kept accepting btc, it will still be the top coin to be used. This forum will be the first to fade when bitcoin starts to be ignored.

Of course, bitcoin will be the most preferred cryptocurrency even after 10 years, as bitcoin is widely getting accepted by more merchants and it getting more adoption now a days.

The question isn't even clear, so it is pretty hard to give an answer. After 10 years of being made, would only be a couple of years, so most probably Bitcoin will stay no 1.
In 10 years time, i.e. 2026, I would expect that a more transactional crypto will be number 1. Bitcoin is too slow and limited on number of transactions to be used for everyday small transactions, so I expect a better Crypto to take over. I expect that that crypto hasn't been made yet.

Bitcoin has many years on all other coins, litecoin and namecoin were the 2nd ones behind if i remember right. The longer time goes by the more its looking like bitcoin will be used as the store of value crypto and others might provide services for it.

By then bitcoin might be the preferred to handle the largest transactions between global corporations, governments and banks etc. 1 bitcoin might have a huge value by then. But I don't think it won't be preferred for buying a coffee in starbucks. It is not really suited to small transactions. Or not! Who the heck really knows ?

no one can answer that, but if bitcoin gets developed further and more parties are interested to give bitcoin a huge boost by getting it listed in professional (stock like) exchanges for example, then bitcoin will continue to grow and that will make sure bitcoin is still leading after a decade.

It is hard to predict 10 years ahead.
However this year - 2016 - is a big year for BTC. We don't know if it will survive the halvening let alone whether it survives the civil war that is going on in bitcoin space.
I think it is significant that both Gemini and BTC-E have announced that they are offering ETHer trading - it seems to me that they're trying to hedge their bets just in case bitcoin doesn't make it.

I would say yes. Unless there won't be any planned offensive vs bitcoin created by the governments. Today I read that government wants to introduce new anti TOR law. Anyone who is using TOR to access the internet could be prosecuted for doing so. And I think hunting people who use TOR is just beginning of a witch hunt - and bitcoin could be next.

I believe so yes but I'm bias as a bitcoin investor. I don't see any other cryptocurrency gaining the user base to surpass bitcoin.
