Well, now that the entire Craig Wright / Satoshi thing has blown over, I just want to point out that one guy summed it all up very nicely in the early stages: Craig Wright is a 'bit of a cunt'.  After it all played out - that guy sure had it correct.

I'm just theorizing here but if Wright is indeed satoshi, I doubt that he'd care about his public image. IMO, he'd rather prefer people not believing him. Why? Well, the guy is in deep shit with Australian tax authorities, but if he somehow proved to be Satoshi, it's highly likely that they'd leave him alone or at least go easy on him. For this to happen, he wouldn't need to go public with the proof. Remember that Wright has claimed to hold more than one million bitcoins in his "tulip trust", if this isn't a fabrication then it means that he holds more than 6.5% of bitcoin in circulation and god knows what percentage of bitcoin's marketable supply those coins would be. Minutes after the Wright outer himself as satoshi we saw a major drop in the price, imagine if he had came out with publicly verifiable proof instead of only showing the proof privately to prominent figures in the space.

TL;DR if wright didn't lie about the Tulip Trust, it'd literally be against his rational self-interest to publicise verifiable proof that he's Satoshi, as it'd cause an even more major drop in the price, something he'd be directly affected from.
