I am new at using Linux and wondered what is the best variation of OpenCL and or AMD drivers to use under Ubuntu 12.10 for Radeon 6xxx and 5xxx series of cards for max. perf.?

You do not want SDK 2.6 or newer. Some people say 2.1 was better for 5xxx cards, but others say 2.5 was better. Since you've got 6xxx cards, I'd say it's a pretty easy choice of SDK 2.5.

I've never mined on 6xxx cards, but if you need any help tweaking the 5xxx cards under SDK 2.5, I can give you a few pointers.

Thanks for that and 2.5 it is.My main goal is to make it an LTC rig and I guess the only thing left now are settings and perhaps software recommendations.
