Text oriented code is a potentionally useful alternative to qr codes, that is both machine and human readable. Users can easily copy their text oriented addresses from  between supported sites like forums, chat, etc. qr code cannot be easily used or shared like this,because many sites do not allow users to post images.

Why text oriented code? QR code works perfectly??

Yes qr code is very robust but digital coin addresses already contain error checking.
Unleash web developer productivity:
 As a web developer, to add qr code to site can be moderately difficult. But enabling T. O. code on site can be as simple as adding a custom css font, a change easily made by even newbie web designer. In this way any site can become Bitcoin -friendly site. More information on-site.

What is the point of this app ? If I have understood correctly,the app scans a bitcoin address and generates a code for it which would be easy to remember ? I don't see any point in downloading the application.I'm sorry maybe I haven't understood the concept totally.

The app demo simply shows CORRECT upon successful scan. The app has potential to become "address book", if somebody adds this feature.

The app serves as an example for bitcoin / dogecoin / any coin developer to copy this feature to their own actual payment app.

The open source will be released any hour now.

I use google to convert bitcoin addresses into QR code, which is very fast and easy to do. If you make your code easy to access like google without the need to download anything, that might help.

Yep, we suffer from a chicken and egg problem, similar to "what block is before of genesis block"  

We don't have wallet app support, and it isn't heavily used because there is no app support.
What's worse the code only works on flat surfaces, so no textile or paper uses.

You are right, to kick-start the use on webpages, we need to make the font really really easy to use, for even a newbie web/php developer.

The easy-to-copy magic using the fullwidth characters trick is not easily picked up by developers..

We use fullwidth characters with added finders. compare to normal ascii:
1TocodeXUJWesFH1FL34iqenMZQWaB19u

But this requires the web developer to add the finders(▣), and transform the letters. Creating a hosted service could pose a security issue, but creating a java-script for this purpose may be doable.

On the other hand, adding the ASCII characters back to the font in 0.0.3 might prove to be the ultimate solution, but this breaks the easy-to-copy magic.

You don't necessarily need app support. It's supported by the OS (under android at least). I think you just need to convert to a bitcoin:... URL and tell the OS to handle it. That works with the QR reader I use (though Mycelium has it built in also).

You might also want to talk to the ZXing people, I believe their code is used as a library by several of the apps. That is where you would find the support.

Thanks alot I contacted zxing maintainter the first day to reserve a name for a new kind of barcode but he refused and suggested to live out-of tree

I have already on-site the JS code that creates image- based payment barcodes.
I will think about the drag and drop feature, as well as the feature that makes barcodes via an API

We have on-site JS code to generate barcodes. This project is currently halted, and will be revived If people report some issues, why it does not work / etc /etc.
