i only used ESET since the first time i bought this laptop . maybe there's a better antivirus than eset but i prefer to use it because it has a simple options of how you arrange or set the schedule you want to scan your computer and it has a strong anti-malware feature so i'll choose eset for the security and safety of my computer .

LOL, antivirus.

Sure, I'll let you 'scan' all my information, Mr. Kaspersky (or should I say Agent?)

You don't need an antivirus unless you're braindead...haven't had a virus in years (I run a scan once or twice a year)

It's called diligent OPSEC Smiley

How do you run the scan if you don't have any antivirus?

does the chromebook (you can bash me) even have an antivirus  Wink haha, dunno what to call it but I did some research online, I did not btw download any antivirus extensions or apps so anyways, my chromebook seems to be protected directly by the OS itself (dunno if I'm speaking technically correct) without need for some some separate piece of anti-virus software.

My desktop though is protected my security essentials/windows defender? (I think), clamwin and malwarebytes

What Anti-virus are you using now to protect your device? And why did you choose this one?
i'm using avast anti virus, but mostly i run my own programmed anti virus cause i think that's more effective than any other anti-virus i believe that own programmed anti-virus is powerful than any anti-virus that you need to buy and if you can program your own anti-virus you don't need to buy an anti-virus

Best anti-virus you can use is yourself and common sense.  Don't download from shady sites, don't download any email attachments not from a verified sender.  If you MUST do something that could compromise your system, do it in a virtual machine instead of on your host computer.

Avast is the best IMHO.
Detects most files, actually lightweight and silent.

Dont use AVG atm because it is such a huge bogged down program atm, same goes for most of the others.
I will never use Norton or mcafee because those both are the worst av programs ever.

If you MUST do something that could compromise your system, do it in a virtual machine instead of on your host computer.

Good advice. For example if you must run Windows, do it safely inside a Linux host virtual machine.  Smiley

Bitdefender. The Business product: Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools.
If you want to know which antivirus is the best one visit the sites of the independent organizations like:
http://www.av-comparatives.org/
https://www.av-test.org/en/
https://www.virusbulletin.com/testing/vb100/

Nothing is impossible :-)
