does anyone know how long it takes to get an account? how can you be part of a movement if they wont let you in? sounds a bit fake to me? It has been over 2 days now.

everything I say is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. definitely not sound financial advice.

If you have a profile on Steemit and you convert Steem to Steem power you get around 9% interest and you are able to upvote other posts and gain more steem power from that. If you have good original content you can also build a following and post content to earn Steem power and SBD from upvotes.

Depends how lucky you are, it could be a few hours, it could be a week or maybe more! It's true that this waiting for account validation could be stressful, but is not fake, is a great platform for all kind of activities, you will see that when your account will be approved

I have 10K steem sitting at bittrex. but would lock it in if the 9% thing was true

Very good service, I see how many active users can earn money from their blogs and this very much motivates me. I will learn steymшt and I hope in the near future I will also succeed.

Good platform but currently I only make $0.02 Writing is not really my passion that I hardly fix my grammar. Joining steemit is like you begin from big ZERO to build your reputation. It's a good platform if you are passionate about your field and want to share it with others

You don't necessarily have to be writing on Steemit. Say you're good at photography, you could share your latest pictures on steemit. Also about the reputation gaining thing, if you already have a following elsewhere like youtube you could encourage your followers to sign up to steem and follow you. Commenting on other posts is also one way to engage with the community and earn Steem

I´m pretty sure, steemit will be very huge in a few years, like Facebook or Reddit. I`m still waiting for my sign-up, since 7 days. I want to steem things, too. Obviously they have too much registrations, at the moment. Well, but this is fine for me

The rate declines every year and I think it is around 1.5% (annual) right now and not 9%. But of course since you are getting it credited after every few seconds, so if you have a big amount of Steem Power, it could gain a lot of compound interest!!

Hello! I'm Steemitaccountshop, and I am the owner of hundreds of exclusive account-handles on Steemit. As Steemit is a free market platform, and purchasing accounts is possibly for everyone if you pay 3 STEEM. The idea is that as STEEM and Steemit increases in value, premium account-handles will become valuable for certain individuals and companies. As more crypto currencies use Steemit for blogging and general exposure to a very crypto-friendly crowd, having an account here is alpha and omega. Accountshop is not a someone who is raiding all account-names and selling them back more expensively. Accountshop focus on buying account-names that are interesting for companies, popular youtubers and public profiles who can afford to invest in such a handle. However, everyone is able to bid on an account and purchase it as an investment/speculation object. Every account-name is for sale. We can see that certain crypto currencies are making thousands of dollars a month here on Steemit. Right now work is done on a great system to value Steemit-accounts. Please read the "white paper" here if you want to know more about the basics, and see some of the accounts currently for sale. https://steemit.com/trading/@accountshop/high-value-accounts-for-sale-exclusive-cryptocurrency-names-and-youtubers-please-read-carefully-before-purchasingMore account-names will be added daily.

Steem, the blockchain-based social media platform co-founded by serial entrepreneur Dan Larimer, had a relatively quiet 2017. Like most cryptocurrencies, Steem experienced significant appreciation throughout the year, but it largely lagged the market index during the fourth quarter — until December, that is.
During the final month of the year, the Steem price exploded, leaping from $1 on Dec. 1 to a new all-time high of $7.31 on Jan. 3, fueled largely by heavy trading volume in South Korea. The rally was as unsustainable as it was inexplicable, and by Jan. 17 the Steem price had declined to $2.89.
This week, however, the Steem price made a renewed push, and on Thursday it rose 50 percent in just 24 hours to reach $6.51 on Bittrex, which provides the token with a $1.6 billion market cap.

Steem got a "B-" in the new Weiss ratings. See https://news.bitcoin.com/new-weiss-ratings-for-cryptocurrencies-award-no-as-and-score-bitcoin-a-c/According to Weiss Ratings, bitcoin scores a C+ (“fair”) while ethereum earns a B (“good”), and steem a B-. That’s right: steem scores higher than bitcoin. No cryptocurrency earns the highest possible rating of an A. In a report issued today, the company explained: “A grade of A or B can also be interpreted as the investment rating equivalent of “buy.” At the same time, investors should not be overly alarmed by a C rating.” Electing not to invoke crypto’s most famous meme, they continued: “It is a passing grade, and for investors, implies the equivalent of ‘hold.'” Grades of D and E, are the equivalent of a sell, with the release citing crypto minnows Novacoin and Salus as examples of a D.
