So do you somehow make more steem the more steem you have? Is that how it works? Can someone please help me understand how this works?
That would be considered a Ponzi scheme Grin
Amount of steem doesn't impact how much you will earn. You can power up with that steem and get a higher voting power, but the downside is you won't be able to power down for another 2 years after powering up.

Not true though..

Powering down is only like 9 weeks. The 2 year power down was changed about 6 months ago.
Thanks for letting me know, I was unaware. Is it really 9 weeks though? Someone noted that it is actually 12 weeks.
It is actually 13 weeks. Neither 9 nor 12 weeks.

But overall I think that the platform is just not evolving. New members aren't welcomed and still takes from some days to some weeks just to get in. And after getting in, they realize that they can't earn more than a few cents even if their blog is of high quality. The only way to earn here is via investing in Steem power or making strong network connections. This is not a place for anyone who is looking for free money. But yes, if you like do blogging anyways, then you can surely opt for Steemit as you can find a lot of people who share same interest as yours.

Heya everyone,

got a question. If i power down all my steem power, does the withdrawal still works? or what is meant with this warning message:

"Leaving less than 5 STEEM POWER in your account is not recommended and can leave your account in a unusable state."

thanks in advance!

You need to leave a small amount of steem power left to have bandwidth to transfer. The exact amount depends on network conditions. If you are willing to wait for a period of light usage 5 SP is probably more than necessary.

After the next hard fork you probably won't need any SP to make use of a small amount of bandwidth.

Steemit Announces Release Date for Smart Media Tokens

Steemit, the frontrunning blockchain-based social network, announced that it will be rolling out the Smart Media Token (SMT) TestNet on January 15th, 2019.

SMTs will allow for an established website, blog, app, platform, etc to connect with the Steem network and run the Steem blockchain protocol, allowing their users to monetize their engagement. This opens the doors to an entirely new method of content and community monetization for content creators and website/app owners.

How does this scam work? At 1st glance the rules are rather tricky...

Scammers buy premined/instamined coins to purchase "power" to upvote articles about their projects and downvote the articles of their competitors.

Right?

The coins that are powered up are used as stake, that stake is used to upvote content or earn money in various ways.
Like curation of content, to make your own content, to run an application, and to have a vote bot.

This is one of the most viable projects for pushing special media forward considering there is no fee's for transactions and it one of the fastest's chains on the market.
Soon the coin will have smt's which are smart media token which will be its version of erc20 tokens and smart contracts.

How can you earn money in varios ways, if the projects's only source of income is selling coins and tokens? It's a classic Ponzi scheme.

And what's the point of wasting money on this project, if you can buy up-votes (likes, retweets, whatever) on more popular platforms (twitter, facebook, reddit etc) ?

Fresh account named SCAMcoinTalk and all your post are being critical of altcoins but you do seem to have some knowledge about circumstances relating to the history of certain coins.

But I think this is just a troll account made to just go around spreading fud, probably a BTC maximalist.

...
...
EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS
...
...

minds has been around for a while now they are on wikipedia and have been on fox news and stuff but they have kept a very low profile in the bitcoin community and have basically only gotten non-coiners to come to their platform
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minds

august 13th they switched from the rinkby testnet to being a real ethereum token so this is now an ethereum token
https://etherscan.io/token/0xb26631c6dda06ad89b93c71400d25692de89c068

here is the announcement thread he has not been on bitcointalk because he is hiding from coin people
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4899914.msg44127022#msg44127022

THERE IS NOW A GIANT POOL OF TOKEN USERS ON MINDS.COM GETTING TOKENS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH

also bitcoin is not money according to the courts so ethereum is definitely not money and ethereum tokens are definitely definitely not money

I think Steemit lost some of his old popularity. The inclusion of bots in the system has also shifted to a different dimension.

Dude it's not project paying. It's basically people are voting stuff they like and since everyone considers there is a value, so those authors get rewarded. Just like how Bitcoin is treated valueable because everyone associates a value with it. Yes, Steemit is not the best crypto platform out there, but saying it a ponzi is totally dumb. Better research on things than just spit out venom. And as for why not promote on FB and all, then it's mainly because those platforms don't allow certain content and can censor any content anytime. Plus Steemit is more targeted for crypto users and is totally ad free.
