Steemit Inc. posted their retrospective for July a couple of days ago.

https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/steemit-retrospective-for-july

I'm glad that they started working on SMTs again, I really hope they'll finish it in time.
The last thing we need are more delays.

the last things we need is delays and so many spending by the team... nice to see they cut some spending like office renting,... but i don't see price recovering soon without any relevant news.

Yeah, that's completely true, the time-line doesn't look too great if I'm being honest.
Here's a graph of the progress:

Source: https://steemit.com/smt/@steemitblog/smt-burnup-rc-delegation-pools

They're somewhat on schedule, but I can't fully understand why it's taking that long to issue the release.
Especially when you consider that they've announced SMTs years ago!

Hehe, didn't expect to see you here...
They've been doing a lot better these days, but I still think it might be too little, too late.

Part 2 of Our Plan to Onboard the Masses

Quote
In our first post about our plan for onboarding the masses to the blockchain we explored, on a very high level, how we think about solving the problems that blockchain still faces, and the important role that both Communities and SMTs play in our proposed solutions. In today’s post we want to dive a bit deeper into one of these solutions: Communities.

When Communities launch on Steem, for the first time ever people will be able to create communities, on the internet, that they own. We think that’s a very big deal, and a value proposition that will excite community leaders all over the world.

https://steemit.com/communities/@steemitblog/part-2-of-our-plan-to-onboard-the-masses

Just some personal thoughts about this. I'm little bit wary when they mention that their plan to onboard the masses, would be mostly based on getting proper communities rolled out.
I seriously doubt that this is really going to attract the masses. Steemit Inc seems to have this notion of "If we build it, they will come", which is a little bit naive in my opinion.

Without some real serious marketing effort, I don't think they'll achieve their goals, they make no mention of that in their posts.

As we explained in Part 2 of Our Plan to Onboard the Masses, we believe the future of blockchain is Communities and you've all probably noticed how “on-trend” the idea of “Community” has become. Every corporation, social media app, and blockchain project is eager to give lip service to their “amazing community” and talk about how they’re “all about community.” But Steem is the only blockchain ecosystem that puts our money where our mouth is. Literally.

https://steemit.com/smt/@steemitblog/part-3-of-our-plan-to-onboard-the-masses-smart-media-tokens

If you read the entire article, you'll notice how they're comparing Steem to Ethereum's gas, once SMTs come out.
I'm kinda wondering what sort of effect that would have on the Steem price in the future.

What is the Steem Hardfork 21?

On Tue, 27 August 2019 15:00:00 UTC, the Steem blockchain will undergo a network upgrade in the form of a hard fork. This is the 21st hard fork, thereby coined the term Steem Hardfork 21 (or Steem HF21).

Steem is getting quite a bit of attention on mainstream new websites again, as they're reporting on the upcoming hardfork.
Most notable is an article on Yahoo Finance, where they talk about the new Steem Proposal System, which will give out funding to community-oriented projects.

Check out this article to see which articles have appeared about Steem recently:

HF21 is live and working after experiencing some issues yesterday!
Notable changes are changes to the reward system, now authors receive 50% of post rewards and curators receive 50% as well.

You can downvote a couple of posts for free per day and you can vote posts immediately, without having to wait 15 minutes to get maximal curation rewards. (Now the optimal curation window is at 5 minutes)

Important updates on the Steem DAO and pausing STEEM sales for September

''We will not be selling any STEEM this month. We have continued to improve revenue generation through ads while lowering our expenses, but we are still a long ways from covering our operating costs 100%. That being said, we have put ourselves in a position where we can pause programmatic selling, as we are this month. ''

Woohoo, finally they're going to stop the automated selling of Steem, well for this month at least.
I hope they can eventually increase their advertising income enough to completely stop the selling of their stake.

Best news I've heard about Steem in months!
