I have sent coins from Mtgox to wallet on computer. I have chooses to encrypt wallet in bitcoin-qt with long password. Now, question is - can make upload of wallet.dat file to cloud without worry? Wallet.dat is encrypted - is it not? Or better to encrypt wallet.dat with truecrypt before make upload? Much appreciate.

Only your private keys are encrypted when you use the wallet encryption (meaning nobody can spend your bitcoin without your password).

The bitcoin addresses are not encrypted.  If you are interested in privacy and anonymity and you don't want someone who gains access to the wallet.dat file to know what your bitcoin addresses are, then you should also encrypt the wallet.dat file before uploading.

For a new user who is not trying to store a large quantity of bitcoin, I'd suggest https://blockchain.info/wallet

blockchain.info is just as easy to use as Coinbase, but it is more secure since the private keys are encrypted.

You can get step-by-step for setting up the wallet in the first two-and-a-half minutes of the following video:

Sending and receiving bitcoin takes less than a few seconds.  It can take anywhere from a few more seconds to several days for those transactions to be confirmed depending on the fee you include and how soon a miner includes the transaction in a block.

Setting up a blockchain.info wallet should take less than two-and-a-half minutes (as you can see in the video).
