I'm pretty sure "In Math We Trust" would work better than "In Crypto We Trust" because the average person doesn't know what crypto is, but already associates math with concepts like reliability, correctness, and objectivity.
Unfortunately quite some people have a bad association with math. What about "In Numbers We Trust"?

It's all conjecture unless we test it with focus group studies, but I don't think people have negative associations with math itself as much as that have negative associations with studying math.

People don't use phrases like "mathematical precision" in order to evoke negative associations. That tells me that people trust and value math, but hate doing it themselves.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about "In Numbers We Trust" is Mark Twain's quote about statistics.

I liked "An idea worth spending", but unfortunately, Bitcoin is not Freicoin, if we're honest it's more "an idea worth hoarding".  Tongue

seems to be too broad. What numbers? A bit like "In Numerology We Trust".

Just like psy said, where did you stated this was against the rules?

Where in the rules did it say he couldn't make up the rules as he goes along?

Good point  Smiley

I still think it's the best slogan @phelix and you didn't even read the question on Rugatu, people have voted what they wanted, see their answers if you don't believe me. It could be that it got more attention from Rugatu than bitcointalk.
I still like "digital gold" the best and had to remove it, too.

OK I looked through the Rugatu posts and to me it is quite clear that while you certainly drove traffic here you also influenced people heavily. I estimate about 15 votes influenced votes for your slogan.

This is the best comment: "(Did that more from the money than from a personal choice, but, personally, I don't care)."

Like what the heck do I care about Bitcoin just give me the $0.45...

Meh, whatever...

I saw first-hand how well "Banking without Banks" works.
That's my vote.
Include it back into the vote already! :-)

dude, it only got one vote. yours I assume Smiley

Also "Be Your Own Bank" says pretty much the same but in a cooler and more positive way.

"Digital Gold" is the best slogan anyway, all the other votes were bought I am sure!

..as I didn't suggest that slogan, it has at least two. I guess it's up to you to keep track of that?

Thank you for deciding on the best slogan by yourself.
Mind to explain this poll, anyway?
:-P

Ente

edit:
Also, I don't understand why there are a) highly-visible poll-entries, b) less visible entries in the OP, and c) "lurk moar in this thread". If this isn't an obvious method of steering the outcome of this "poll" I don't know what.

You got it all wrong.

It went like this:

Phase 1: Nominations only
Phase 2: Poll started, still open to nominations
Phase 3: Late nominations need +1 from someone else
Phase 4: 0 vote suggestions removed
Phase 5: 1 & 2 vote suggestions removed
Phase 6: 3, 4 & 5 vote suggestions removed

The idea behind all this? As this poll system is quite simple and does not allow a ranked vote I had to enforce some aggregation. I did this by removing suggestions that clearly would not win so that voters were urged to recast their vote.

If I could assure secure voting I would bet a couple of BTC that your suggestion would not win especially as there is a very well received similar alternative. Still I think adding it now would only make things more complicated.

Doing for money what the internet did for communication

This.

Simple and any idiot can understand it whether they know about tech or not. it also brings to mind(at least for me) the positives about the internet and where we were before the internet and where we are now that we have it. it also avoids any silly gimmicky names or titles that people commonly associate with random companies they dont care about or trust.

to me it says "this product is the most amazing thing since the internet, and if you know the good thats come from the internet then you can only imagine how good our product is".

Thanks for explaining calmly and professionally, much appreciated in this forum! ;-)
Right, I see, I simply read around here "too late" and got a funny impression.

Cheers,

Several good suggestions. I like "strength in numbers", it sounds cool in Latin "Fortitudo in numeris".

..isn't it "vires in numeris"? At least that's what my Casascius coins say ;-)
I like that slogan, by the way! Maybe not that mass-compatible, but neat!

I like "The future of money" the most out of that list. It's the simplest, clearest. Doesn't try to be clever. Everyone will understand.
