The recent Craig Wright-Satoshi Nakamoto debacle has spurred a new discussion as to what should happen with the coins mined by the mysterious Bitcoin creator. Theymos, the owner of BitcoinTalk, feels these coins should be destroyed to “prevent disastrous monetary inflation.”

Even if this makes sense and these coins are a risk to the Bitcoin price... we still do not have the right to destroy someone else's property. Satoshi is after all the creator of all the coins we own, if it

was not for Satoshi... we would not have had this technology. It also creates a precedent.. If Satoshi's coins can be destroyed now... Who's coins are next? ...In any way, if security researchers will be

able to break the ECDSA-protected bitcoin addresses, we will all be fucked. If they did accomplish this, the Bitcoin price will drop without them having to dump those coins on exchanges.. nobody will

buy it, because nobody will be able to own coins, they cannot control or keep.  Huh

If Satoshi is still around and also still holds the private keys he has every right to use his coins if he feels so.
Without Satoshi there would be no Bitcoin. We all wouldn't be here. Therefore he deserves his coins imo.
And best thing is he doesn't need anybodies permission.

If he istt involved in bitcoins or is actually dead I agree the coins should be burned but if he has his coins and still interested he should be allowed to keep them.

The second solution suggested by theymos is a bit dangerous because there are some other people that haven't moved ever the funds and by this these people will lose their savings.

I agree that first mined coins should not be moved till bitcoin become mainstream and more people embrace bitcoin, then those coin won't affect the market deeply like now

That's a complete nonsense. I don't actually agree that the coins that supposedly Satoshi is the owner should be destroyed. I'm positive that Satoshi Nakamoto is just a pseudo for a group who got the tech out from the NSA and developed it into what we know today... if they are still around and have the private keys they should be the ones to decide. On the other hand if Satoshi is actually one person and the sole creator no one should decide that as well...

Bitcoin is freedom so I don't like seeing the coins of anyone get destroyed just because of them possibly causing a lot damage to the market. And who knows... Maybe he doesn't have access to his coins anymore.
