I just registered bitcoinpeak.com and bitcoinpeak.org
Does anyone feel like writing a quick one page website for me that simply shows "the highest bitcoin price ever"? Currently it could a static page showing $31.X (I don't remember what the exact peak, Google-fu didn't help me)... but we'll soon overcome it.
Full credit will be given to the coder. It's really not for profit, just a fun website to have.
I'll donate 1 BTC for a clean implementation of this.
Any jumpers?

Shure,
I can make a neat little PHP class that pulls historical BTC/USD exchange rates and returns the maximum price and its timestamp.

I see what you did there! Heh, actually it was not intentional Shure,

Cool. Can you wrap it in a minimal design (nothing fancy at all, just centered div with border and background)? Set it up on some server and I'll point my DNS towards it. Also while you're at it you I suggest adding Google Analytics.

BTW for the 1 BTC donation I need to get access to the code, I suggest just posting it publically at github.

Ah, now you are changing the specs in the middle of the project I'm not a web designer, so adding markup isnt really my thing. I'm not shure what you are asking with regards to the server. It looks like you want free hosting? I've made the class availabel to you for download on http://bitcoin.gdsl.no/bitpeak.zip. Donation can be sendt to 1PHPJobsU1bRJh1UJk7HfwR2eHbuzhyd9P ( http://blockchain.info/address/1PHPJobsU1bRJh1UJk7HfwR2eHbuzhyd9P)

I see the code is rather simple ... I guess I could have coded it myself and saved myself a bitcoin, but I'll keep up my end and send you that 1 BTC once I had a chance to check it out. Thanks!

According to bitcoincharts.com, the Mtgox all-time high is $31.9099. Any minute now...

Thanks for the offer though!

Interesting, blockchain.info is wrong here ... it says the peak is $35 {"x":1307729705,"y":35.0} In http://blockchain.info/charts/market-price?timespan=all&format=jsonHere are a few data points from the time (June 2011) { x: 1307556905, y: 31.9099 }, { x: 1307643305, y: 31.5 }, { x: 1307729705, y: 35 }, I guess I'll manually ignore them.

Yeah, I don't know why it says that. Maybe it uses a different exchange, or maybe bitcoincharts.com missed some of the trades.

Yeah, I don't know why it says that. Maybe it uses a different exchange, or maybe bitcoincharts.com missed some of the trades. Anyway, I just ignored those two data points. It is ready - http://www.bitcoinpeak.org/Code is here (Scala/Play 2): https://github.com/ripper234/bitcoin-peak gdsl, I'll send 0.5 BTC to your address. I really expected more when I posted my donation ... I ended up doing quiet a bit of work (not just because I choose to convert it to Scala/Play). E.g. caching of the result is important in order not to waste time on every page view, ordering the app in a proper view etc. Hope no hard feelings regarding the missing 0.5 BTC.

Actually I do. Your request was: Does anyone feel like writing a quick one page website for me that simply shows "the highest bitcoin price ever"?
I beleave I fulfilled your request quickly. It should not be my problem that you didnt know how to make the egg stand on its end. Additionally, you are now going back on your reconfirmation on the 1BTC bounty. I see the code is rather simple ... I guess I could have coded it myself and saved myself a bitcoin, but I'll keep up my end and send you that 1 BTC once I had a chance to check it out. Thanks!
If the last 0.5BTC remains unpaied I will not work with you again.

If you don't send him 1 btc, you will get a scammer tag. It is up to YOU as the person who made the contract, to be specific if/when you need to. He did exactly as you asked -not his fault you asked for so little.

in the IT hardware industry, we call that "moving the goalpost". In your case, gdsl, you had a clearly stated ask, and a clearly stated reward for fulfillment. Him moving the goalpost after the initial agreement was made is just dirty pool, and he owes you that other BTC0.5 ASAP.

If he doesn't pay the other 0.5 BTC, report him in the SCAM ACCUSATIONS forum. Open and shut case, and it will let the other forum members know that he goes back on his word.

odsl - I offered 1 BTC for a clean implementation that works. Your implementation was buggy. Did you even run it? It returns $35! Not to mention the other issues I mentioned. Your code is a POC, nothing more. I wanted to pay 1 BTC for someone working and production grade to save me the work and upload a working website to somewhere (e.g. heroku ... no need for free hosting). Nevertheless, after reading your initial reply on my smartphone a few hours ago, I decided to send you that 0.5 BTC ... $15 is not worth one of us leaving this thread with grudes. Sent. If you don't send him 1 btc, you will get a scammer tag. It is up to YOU as the person who made the contract, to be specific if/when you need to. He did exactly as you asked -not his fault you asked for so little.
Geese, let a man reply before giving him a scammer tag ... I was away for a few hours today. I wouldn't get a scammer tag, this was not a contract nor a bounty, just an offer for a donation. Some proportion, people. Anyway the threat of the scammer tag is not why I'm paying this up ... I honestly don't want anyone to feel cheated here. in the IT hardware industry, we call that "moving the goalpost". In your case, gdsl, you had a clearly stated ask, and a clearly stated reward for fulfillment. Him moving the goalpost after the initial agreement was made is just dirty pool, and he owes you that other BTC0.5 ASAP.
This was not a job contract. There were no clearly defined terms for completion, but I did write: - quick one page website - I'll donate 1 BTC for a clean implementation of this.
- I didn't get a working implementation - The code he submitted wasn't a website/webpage, it was a function - it had severe bugs I also see he did not give full credit to the coder on his website. hmmmm
Sorry, credit would have been given if the coder has implemented the above. I'll pay the 0.5 BTC, but I won't give credit to someone who just basically pointed me towards blockchain API and gave me a POC, and let me labor for 2 hours afterwords to create a production grade product. Again, some perspective people. You can request I get a scammer tag for failing to give full credit if you want Thanks everyone, a total of 1 BTC paid, have a nice day.

Your statement that the code is bugged is untrue and dishonest. The code is available for peer review on http://bitcoin.gdsl.no/bitpeak.zip. It does return $35 as the peak price as this is the data returned by http://blockchain.info/. How do you even know that $35 is not infact the correct price ? If you disagree with the blockchain.info market data I suggest you take it up with them. - I didn't get a working implementation - The code he submitted wasn't a website/webpage, it was a function - it had severe bugs
-You did get a working implementation. The code to present the peak price is included in the source. Move the code out of the comment block and you are set. -It was a php class with example code on how to use the class. You needed nothing more then I deliverd to present the peak price over http. -It has no known bugs. Your rejection of the blockchain.info data is on you. I see your attack on the code quality as a pathethic attempt to save face. I will update https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=147308.0 with payment recived. I will however keep the recomendation not to bid on your offers.
