slightly preemptive thread, but first can we confirm that the view of the forum is that the previous high was recorded on June 8 2011 at mtgox as 31.9099 USD ? anyone want to admit to buying at the top ?

I didn't, but I have three friends that did. Two of them bizarrely held for months before selling and then eventually lost a lot of money. Then when they had the opportunity to buy in at $2 both of them were too scared and didn't listen to my advice that they could make all the lost money back. The other held all this time and has made it clear to me he has no plans on selling until it gets well past the old high.

The spike was so sudden and short that I already consider the 2011 high to be broken. Most charting websites didn't even update fast enough to catch the peak which is why I think there is some confusion as to the exact number. But to be 100% sure I'll say definitely when we reach $32.00

Looks like the US is waking up and people are starting to put those walls up, it's going to be a repeat of last week at $30.    13.5k wall up to 32 now, very similar in size to $30 walls

In my opinion, saying its gonna be a bitcoin all time high based upon the value compared to USD only, is pretty narrow minded. We should compare it to a bag of currency.

That might be true for other commodities, where there are physical barriers to distribution.  With bitcoin it doesn't make much difference since it is so easily transferred worldwide.  Sometimes other markets do get out of sync with USD price, but it isn't long before someone makes some arbitrage money and gets everything lined up again.

Maybe we could check the all-time high with a couple other currencies and see if there is any difference?

If you measure in silver, the all-time high has already been surpassed.

What was the daily average high in June 2011? I am pretty sure we passed that already, that peak was not very deep.
