DDoS on deepbit again?

Connection seems to be going up and down, as well as network hashrate... I think if this is the case, some sort of script should be implemented on the server side, that if someone with no login tries to connect with the same IP a certain # of times, they should get blacklisted.  That will sort out who is a miner and who is doing the DDoS.

I was getting rpc errors with Slush's pool a short while ago too. Seems ok now though.

I see it differently... If someone said "I will pay you $97 a month, guaranteed, if you do this work" versus "If you work for me, you'll get either $100 or $0, and you won't know which", I'd rather invest the $3 in a guaranteed paycheck.

I'm more of an investor type than a casino type, but that doesn't mean my way is right.  Just right for me

You know, you could get the full $100 if you used one of the free pools.  BTCGuild is quite good, doesn't charge you anything, and isn't a threat to the stability of the network.

Personally, being the paranoid freak that I am, I consider all pools to be a threat to the health of the network. Some are just less of a threat than others. One goes down, another comes up. Until there are as many pools as shades of blue in the sky, I won't be satisfied.

Here's a valuable tip for avoiding service outages: use guiminer to put each miner in three pools.  Use the -f flag on to prioritize them.

Then you have a primary, backup, and failsafe.  It costs you a some megahash, but that is cheap insurance against total loss of miner uptime and physical damage from temp. flux.

My miners are much more stable after adopting this configuration:

-f1 btcguild.com (three servers on dns round-robin)

-f121 simplecoin.us (two servers, maybe RR?)

-f242 bitclockers.com (three servers, maybe RR?)

They keep my queue topped up, so my busy chips stay nice and toasty.
