Need any tips and tricks, internet is not helpfull.
First of all - are they voltage locked?
Second - anyone measured how much power they pull ?

I made it, because I couldnt find a definite answer, not because I am lazy, but on the opposite because I have spent 3 hours trying to get the answer, and my guess was its the best to get a first hand answer, not some website who tested the card in games. Its like when you read those tests how the VTX 3d 7950 overclocks like crazy and it is the best card, and everyone says wow it runs at 1200mhz, but no one mentions that the card is voltage locked at 1.25V and there is no way to run 2 of them in same computer because they burn up everything. That is why I made a topic here...

30 seconds on Google and it was answered on the first page. Alternately you could have downloaded TRIXX and found out for yourself. Usually for mining you want to LOWER the memory clocks and UNDERVOLT the card. All this information is quickly found using Search or Google. Because you fail at using either, I would recommend leaving the card alone or you may destroy it. I don't mind helping but I refuse to spoon feed. Read for yourself.

Simply leave the topic if you dont like it, or if you dont want to help. I know very well what I have to do with the card, I just wanted to make sure if I can before I buy it.
Today I bought 2 from 2 different places (every place had 1 in stock), and oh what a surprise ... One is ok, can be undervolted and all, other is voltage locked at 1.225V. Will try to flash it later.

Flashed the other cards BIOS, worked like a charm. The one that aint locked, is an earlier production, ASIC chip quality is quite different, but still nice cards. If someone needs the flash, I wilL be happy to provide it.

just my 0.0000002 btc : mining with one MSI 7850 for just 1 day, linux, bfgminer,p2pool - 1120 MHz engine, 1000MHz memory,227 Mhash/s, 14% stale rate. I think I would like to try "undervoltage" flash - fan seems a bit noisy to me - 64C - 2450 RPM I can pay with bitcoins - mined 0.0346 BTC already

First of all, 14% stale is more than terrible. What is the default voltage on yours? Memory has to go lower for sure. No need to pay

I was not able to set memory clock lower ( tried from 850 with step 10 MHz). Anything else jumps to 1200 (and hungs soon). Vddc: 1.210 V 14% is around normal with p2pool - I found a tip (queue:0) which brought me to that level(the same as whole pool). I am running eligius now, because bitcoin(older - 0.7.2) is downloading the blockchain because of this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=152029.msg1614320#msg1614320May I kindly ask for the firmware, please ? Thanks a lot ! .m.

I have 2x 7850 they are the twin fan design with large coolers running 12.11beta catalyst.
Together they mine 630Mh/s with 1100 GPU clock, temps are like 57-65c, fan is 50% auto.
They are not cross-fired so I can game on one while mining 300Mh/s on the other. No dummy monitor plug was required. Rig runs at <299w.
I don't mess with the voltages and I'm using GUI Miner and MSI Afterburner and mining on 50BTC (after bad experience with Eligius).
2 BTC pm 2.03 MH/s/W = 48.30 USD pm after power costs at todays prices and difficulty.
Update:
I just tried lowering the voltages and it was a no go. Card seems to have it's own power saving feature that has control of them.

I am runnung singe MSI 7850 (one fan and diablo miner 3d now. using amdovdrvctrl I am able to change clocks to 1120 eng and 1000 mem. fan @ 2080 rpm temp stable 69 C Power 196 W at the wall plug. speed = 337 Mh/s If somebody's interested : git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/amdovdrvctrl/code amdovdrvctrl-code yum -y install wxGTK-devel copy ADL headers to ./src make ./amdovdrvctrl-code/Release/AMDOverdriveCtrl 1050.ovdr # nice - 315Mh/s

Guys Hi,
There is a offer from local store on MSI 7850 for 145 euro, it is model 1 Gb OC with 1 fan, actually this one: MSI R7850-1GD5/OC. Is it voltage locked and are you happy with it ?
Thanks, Milan

My Gigabyte 7850s [2GB version] draw 135w from the wall, that's pretty damn good for 320Mh/s cards.. And I don't see why you need to raise the voltage, the clock itself is pretty stable even at almost 1200Mhz downclocking the memory.. Afterburner can do wonders tho..

No one said raise, but lower - those msi cards are locked at 1.25V which is too much

Btw 7950s here, pulling 150W from wall, 1000/625/0.956-0.962V - 500MHs

BTW, powercolor boost 7950 here, 0,965V, -10 power limit, 850 gpu clock, 700 memory, 1,500v mem volt. = 445 mhash, power consumption also excellent, 40% vent, 60C temp.
And yours 7950 is from ? and model ? thanks...
