Now with storj or siacoin private keys can be safer!

Or perhaps Trezor with its password manager will allow to storage private key too?

Not at all safe because it goes to 3rd party  and you have no idea what they could do with your uploaded data. But could trust Google and Microsoft because they have huge data and files and they won't search your private keys.

Not safe at all ! I don't know how many pictures of celebrities i have seen form people hacking the cloud and taking the nude photos and selling them to magazines. if i was you i would get a zip drive and put in your safe in the wall and come back a few years when the price has gone up.

Can someone know where a private key belongs once a person have found it?

Let's say a private key copy is stored in the cloud and is found for a bad person; is it possible for that person to know where to use that private key?

Ofcourse he would know, unless he never heard of bitcoin and does not know if what is stored there is a private key which can let him have bitcoins from a wallet, so if you have mentioned in there that it is a private key then your bitcoins are gone for sure.

Nothing that is available to the third party isn't very much secure. I wouldn't be so brave and store the private key in the cloud. How could you know that your coins are secured and not exposed to the risk to be stolen or hacked? Save it somwhere offline.

i don't think that is a good idea, didn't you heard last time somebody hacked cloud and then some of the private celebrities photo leaked out? so i don't think storing private key online is safe, and when someone knows that you save you private key online and you have a lot of coins, you will become the hackers target

Indeed, not a good idea to store your private key in cloud storage. It is not safe and theres a possibility that it will be hack. But if you happen to store there I think you have to device a strategy. Example you can  divide in different file the keys that you only knows it. you can have also password protect the file etc. But still it is not advisable in my opinion to store online. Smiley

Many believe it is convenient to store private key or paper wallet in cloud like google drive however there will be always a risk of getting your private key exposed/lost if those cloud services got their hard disk crash as well as your cloud platform account got hacked.

Better to print out paper wallet, laminate it with plastic, put one copy in bank locker with insurance and put one copy under glass jar, bury it on your backyard.  Wink

If you are not comfortable with uploading sensitive data to the cloud you could try setting up a home server. I would buy one of the little cheap server boxes and get 2 SSD's or HDD's and do a RAID 1 configuration that would allow for increased reliability in case of a disk failure. This little server box would be kept offline. And voila you have a super durable long-term storage for your private keys  Grin

like i said earlier in this post i dont see an issue uploading your keys to a cloud if you encrypt them..

truecrypt, even tho its an abandoned project it allows you to encrypt a file and use that as a container..
you can name it anything you want, so weddingpic.jpg could have your encrypted keys in it.. seriously nobody would know..

just dont lose the password.

Let's say a private key copy is stored in the cloud and is found for a bad person; is it possible for that person to know where to use that private key?

Just rename the file something like family_pics_2009.zip and it will be totally safe.  Cheesy
Totally good suggestion, even rename with an unidentified file which makes your private key is safe in the cloud.  Cheesy

The cloud storing was becoming the right way backup your priv key.
Offline store will more recommend.

storing peivate keys in clounds is for me is zero trustable they do secure it that means you are puttingbyour data into their computers and expect them not to see it i think the best you cam go for is offline backup

I wouldn't trust it one bit.
If it is in the cloud it is not secure from being hacked.
That is prevalent in these times that we current are in.

A cloud is ok for some things that you want easy access to wherever you see but you should never use ot for personal things esspcislly financial assets like bitcoin. I mean would you risk half your life savings to an online cloud ? Rather not take the risk. The best protection is prevention. Rather print them out and put them into a physical safe.
It is much more secure this way and you are in control fpr the security so noone is to blame but you but that is a good thing rather then having to blame the cloud service.

actually saving the private keys and other personal things on a cloud service is a good idea because hardware failure and risk of loss is always there which any computer that you are using or even if you store them on pieces of paper.

however you should never store them on cloud un-encrypted. instead there are so many different methods of encryption data (for private keys or any other personal document you want to store there) and then you can upload them. that way you always have access to them and nobody else can know what they are even if they hack your cloud account.

It is extremely dangerous to store private keys or in general, any sensitive information on the cloud. Cloud storage can be compromised very easily and anyone can access them with your password. Once they have your private key, encrypted or not, it have a chance of getting cracked. The encryption method may have vulnerabilities discovered over time or dictionary attack can be ran against them.

A paper backup at different geographical locations would work better.

Why people insist in putting everything online? clouds, webwallets..

Just make an ring with your private key, make a tattoo under your feet, just don't trust on internet.
maybe to simplify when they're in needs of the private key immediately so they could just simply open up their cloud account and then take the private key. though cloud storage is not so secure. for an example when some celebrities' photos were taken from iCloud (yeah it's iCloud and was made by Apple). even cloud storage which was provided by a professional company like Apple and quite expensive also have a hole on it

Why would someone on their sane minds put their money and priv keys in a cloud? Everyone knows that everything online could easily be compromised if the user is not precautious on what he is doing. Also, if in a need of getting the funds fast then why in a cloud? Why not in your mobile device where you are in full control of your money eh?
