Why did they have to change their name for this? 
Doesn't it just dilute an established brand?

Renaming to GDAX (Mt. Gox German Index, lololol) is probably one of the most idiotic things I've ever seen.

We should not be sad to see Coinbase going this way....they have been a US government puppet since the start and they are just like the many other companies in the US doing the exact same thing.

A while ago, I thought Ripple would have been the GovCoin, but I was clearly wrong, and now I see that ETH will be the official GovCoin backed by Coinbase. People should have expected this from a

US based service.. We have seen many others doing the same thing.. Xapo / Circle etc. Get ready to be manipulated.

It's probably some one there with a certain vision of which he/she thinks can get Coinbase to the next level. I agree with you that they should stick to Coinbase as company name, but for some reason they think/hope the new name will gain them more attention from professional traders.

I wondered this too.  I think it is a good move to support ETH and other top alts but why change the name, not good for recognition.

Signed up for Coinbase but when I started reading the requirements I thought they missed the mark.
Seems to be something they do a lot of the time in a bit of a clunky way. Agree about Ripple also saw them the same way when they where created.
