Have you ever make a donation with bitcoin?
No, wanna be the first?!

I do not donate to projects without investigating a little bit.

With so much corruption in this world you start to think if the money will actually go to help those who they claim to help.

EDIT:
I voted "No, but i want to".

I actually wanted to reply "No". However after seeing "HumbleBundle", I remembered that I made some purchase with them. And hence that mean I have make a few donations with Bitcoin through HumbleBundle.

I made a thread similar to yours last year. Located at here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1133696.0. It is outdated and maybe it is time for a new thread. Keep the list of donation coming. Smiley.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

i have donated to seans outpost
i done give aways,
i have given to foodbanks (actual food to the local outlet(paid for using btc), not funds to the HQ)
i have funded projects

but its always best to investigate and question everything. including looking at how much of a cut the middle men take.
EG
red cross only give 8% to the front line needs.. rest is usually wasted, so try to stay clear of the international corporate not-for profits.
they dont declare profits because they waste the excess(profit) purely to show they dont make profit...

No i don't trust in giving donation to social organization most of them don't spend all those donation for usefull work. Almost 80% of them get spent in maintaining the organization and paying their staffs.

If you're in the mood for donations, you might want to donate at Sci-Hub. It's accessible via their IP for now since http://sci-hub.io looks down.

They're an organization trying to break down the 'pay-wall' knowledge barrier to scientific journals. As you can see research journals is a lucrative business for publishers, so giving these academic materials out to the public for free helps a LOT.

I'm donating every now and then, and I'm recommending you to do so too.  Grin Grin

Actually the Tsunami disaster in Japan was one of the key motivators to investigate bitcoin as a way to securely transmit money to local organizations without paying incredibly high fees to the banks.
In the end, it did not work out, so the money went to another trustworthy relief organization who had local accounts.
But I've bought a bit at Humble Bundle, and donated to free software projects that I use. Relief organizations are often too conservative to consider bitcoin, although it would be a perfect match.

Good to know that you donated money to hospital. However, it will be good if you email them asking them to accept Bitcoin as donation too - since you have donated many time. If they accept Bitcoin, I will also donate a few dollar worth of Bitcoin to the hospital. I believe the others who follow this thread will also do the same.

This thread is asking about donating using Bitcoin and not fiat (even if it is exchanged via Bitcoin), I believe.

back in the early adoption of bitcoin there was a poker
site I forget the name that gave 10% of free roll tourney wins
to doctors without borders. So I won 2 bitcoin so .2 was donated.

was a pretty good idea and wish more places did things like this. You
feel good about donating but dont have to come out of pocket

I did donate to Red cross during the Nepal earthquake but that's the only donation I have made using BTC, though I do make other donations periodically to local institutes using fiat. The linux distro I am using right now doesn't accepts Bitcoin, only paypal which I don't use, I have suggested this to them and if they begin accepting BTC, I'll send something right away.

Yes, I've donated in the past. It would be best to not trust any website that says donate something and it will be sent to a charity since most of them try to manipulate and none of those charities get to have anything delivered to them, but instead we should send directly to the charity of our choice (which some already are known). Unfortunately I've donated more to known individuals rather than some charities since I haven't been convinced if donated earnings would be put into good plan (a lot of manipulations goes with these types of cases).
