I've went to bitaddress.org and have enetered my private key from my paper wallet. I took the compressed Private Key and tried to sweep it into my offline Electrum wallet. It says " No inputs found" ...and nothing happens... Anyone know why?

Thanks for your time, regards,

JD

no inputs found = no btc = can't sweep because sweeping just creates a transaction and move all the coins to a new address.

Maybe that you want is to import your private key into your wallet. In Electrum, go to File > New/Restore then pick "Restore a wallet or import keys" finally enter your private key.

You have encrypted key, right? when you go to bitaddress and UN-encrypt it with your pass-phrase, you'll be shown two addresses, one compressed and one uncompressed, now look at your paper wallet, the address shown there is your correct address and you have to enter the key shown on the bitaddress which corresponds to it, should be right below it.

Since you have tried the compressed one, your funds should be in the uncompressed address, its key should start with '5', where as compressed ones start with 'L' or 'K'.

If your paper wallet is not encrypted, then you don't need to go to bitaddress to view its details, just import/sweep it directly into electrum and it should work, make sure if you're typing it to not make any mistakes. Also very important, once you SWEEP the key, your funds will be sent from your paper wallet to one of the address(es) in electrum, your paper wallet will no longer have funds and therefore you need to take back up of your seed of electrum or you will end up losing your funds.

@ bitbaby

Thanks for your respond, ok so i entered the uncompressed one to the sweep box, and it went through. It popped up "Transaction" and gave me the options to copy it, save, broadcast, and close. I checked the electrum wallet i sent it to and it still has no balance. What do i need to do to put my paper wallet value into an electrum wallet??...]

Thanks, JD

You have to broadcast it, Electrum will then transfer all the coins from your paper wallet minus the fee to one of the address of your Electrum wallet. The balance will then show up in Electrum. Remember to back up your seed and consider the paper wallet not fit for cold storage any more.

Oh ok, how do i back up my seed?

Wallet > Seed.  Write down the words on a paper or something.  And keep them safe.
To make sure that your seed is correct create a new separate wallet and choose "Restore wallet or import keys" and try restoring your old wallet with the seed you wrote down.

Trusted an exchange that climbed to the top 3 in just under 2 years with your money? you are fucking stupid.

You should never spend directly from a paper wallet unless you are spending all the funds, still not a good idea because you have very little coin control, you need to sweep your paper wallet first to an online wallet you control then when sending you will have somewhere for the chance to go.

Hello, i want to transfer a few btc addresses from Armory Wallet to Electrum.
I have extracted the private keys from Armory : the ones are PrivBase58 and the others are PrivHexBE.

After installing the latest official version of Electrum Wallet, using the next chain :
Wallet-Private Keys-Sweep-Enter private keys /Electrum let only to enter these with PrivBase58/ i receive only this message:
"No inputs found.(Note that inputs need to be confirmed)"

What to do Huh
My purpose is to load the balance of the addresses in Electrum and to handle them, because iam out of nerves to wait 5 or 6 days in order Armory to load the blockchain...

Are there any spaces in the keys? This quote says you need to remove any spaces before electrum will accept them. Unencrypted PrivBase58 private keys are the only type of keys Armory uses that electrum will import.

I've had this issue many times in the past, and it is because of the spaces.

Use the PrivBase58 key (with spaces removed and don't include the prefix 'PrivBase58') and that will import.

First of all you should have created your own thread instead of bumping this one year old one. The OP was trying to sweep keys to an offline wallet and that was his problem.

So obviously make sure electrum is connected to the net. There should be a green orb icon in the bottom right corner of the electrum window.

To add to what Hi-Tec99 said your private keys should be in wallet import format. They look like this:

>For private keys associated with uncompressed public keys, they are 51 characters and always start with the number 5. Private keys associated with compressed public keys are 52 characters and start with a capital L or K.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_key#Base58_Wallet_Import_format

So 51-52 characters starting with 5, L, or K.

Maybe that you want is to import your private key into your wallet. In Electrum, go to File > New/Restore then pick "Restore a wallet or import keys" finally enter your private key.
Hi
I did it - opened new Empty wallet window... There're now coins imported...
How can I import coins to new wallet using Private Key (WIF Key)?

I'm confused... you say "I did it, there're now coins imported"... then you ask how to import coins to a new wallet??!? Huh

Isn't that what you just did? You just imported the coins using a private key? What are you ACTUALLY trying to do? Huh
