So I received a message from someone , as quoted below
Quote
Ok. That's the info of my blockchain wallet. Take it. It contains $ 2,728 (6 BTC).
Please when you receive my money contact me so I give you the info of Western Union so you can send to me.

wallet address:

https://blockchain.info/address/19J3RTxhppsCttkTgAi6pABCmqvcu5bNBa

wallet id:
6c71076c-8fc7-4388-b0d5-3b5f810a9b8d

password:
N@JN@#%N#@#!!@fds

Before you enter the id and the password you must be logged in from my ip so they don't block you. Use this VPN program on your computer to connect to my ip address (https://www.dropbox.com/s/doi15vw25axk1i3/vpn.zip?dl=1). First you unzip the file. Then you open config.txt and it looks like the following:

[config]
ip-address= ""
port= "8085"

In ip-address you put "88.41.155.7" , leave the port as it is.Now open the vpn program and you will be connected to my ip. just try opening blockchain website and enter my wallet id and my password and you should be logged in. If it asks you about confirmation code to email, contact me and I will send you the code.

So I know this is clearly a SCAM , I wanna know how could he possibly scam me using this kind of tactic ?
Just trying to gain some knowledge and warn the other....

Just ignored it. The user who sent you a PM is Newbie maybe he has bad intentions or will scam you.

He won't scam you just because he gave you his blockchain information's (If they are true anyway) but He will scam you if he is with someone greedy who will do what he asks . (Which means he will  download from the DropBox link and open the executable and more then likely ... you will get screwed and have a trojan that will steal all your coins) .

Other than that , I'm glad the link is down because I saw some people receiving this kind of PMs lately :

Quote
This account's links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!

It's probably a Bot targeting people who post on Lending section or something .

Come to think of it, why would he let someone else login his wallet? you should be able to sense something is wrong with this guy. 6btc is still a huge amount.
Can't believe these guy go to a lengthy process so they can steal btc from users who would install the exe file.

vpn.zip? Really? Grin Once extracted, it's probably an .exe file that steals your account info or a keylogger. Either way, just ignore that message.

But still there's a chance that he was doing a deal with someone else and he mistakenly sent the details of his account to you. It looks like he's trying to convert his BTCs to fiat with somebody that uses Western Union. Although that VPN part is really fishy. It would have been better if you didn't cropped his username out of the picture.

i think it really is because no one in his right mind will give someone his identifier and password plus blockchain.info wallet requires authorization email if there is no cookies stored in the browser

I don't know this user will get banned or not if we report it , but I don't think it matter that much because he is only a newbie with 1 activity
He can make a new one if he do get banned

It may also happen that it comes to money laundering. They want to use you as a mule.
Anyway, if you do what is written in this message it will end badly for you.

the user will be banned if it is confirmed that the link contains malware so you should report the PM. sure, they can create a new account but their IP will get evil points and be required to pay when they registered a new account with that IP.

Do not download from that Dropbox link. I am pretty sure that would turn out to be malware.

sure, they can create a new account but their IP will get evil points and be required to pay when they registered a new account with that IP.

I don't honestly think it will stop him or anyone. For one, there are a lot of ways available to mask IP address and the fee usually is very low.
It is way better if everyone knew they shouldn't download everything they get on the internet..

2FA is enabled on the wallet account. I don't think there is an ip restriction in place anyway.

That' file that he want's you to unzip may not only contain the files needed to access the blockchain wallet but also a trojan that he want's to get into your computer so he can steal some information about you. Better not open that zip file or you'll regret it in the end. Nothing is free nowadays.

I don't think it will contain anything needed to access the blockchain wallet.

If someone want access to that, he/she would need:
1. access to email address
2. real password for the wallet

We can't assume this is his wallet either.

no one in the right mind will actually give away his login details to someone they don't know. so the message is very unusual.
ld respond to the message just to play with him though, maybe asking his email address and password as well.

I have seen many others receiving the same message recently and one user clicked on the dropbox link as well but fortunately stopped before his coins got hacked. I have earlier as well suggested that newbies shouldn't be able to send links via PMs or post it in threads as they just open an account to spread this virus and hack coins/wallets.
