Hey, people! I am a journalism student in Denmark, I want to do a report about Bitcoins, but first I would like to know a bit more about the users. If you could reply here some basic questions I would much appreciate it. Here it goes:

1) Why are you using Bitcoins? Do you consider them as an important part of your life?
2) What bitcoins are about to you - is it a way to challenge the system?
3) How often do you buy goods with bitcoins? Did Bitcoins change the way you buy/sell goods in general?
4) What about the press, do you follow the coverage on mainstream media about bitcoins? Do you think that the coverage is portraying the issue in a responsible and precise way?
5) Do you use mining as well or just buy Bitcoins?
6) Do you perceive any threat to the Bitcoin system? If so, which would those be?

Thanks for your attention! Cheers!!!

Good luck on your report!

1. I got into the BTC game late, after the whole hype and peak of the $1,200/BTC pump. I'm now using cryptocurrency as it's a fairly new technology, and the possibilities of growth around it are endless. I would say that at this point, it definitely is an important part of my life.
2. Bitcoins are a way to prove that not a single agency or entity can control it. It's a decentralized currency, which means that it is pretty much controlled by the demands of its users. A way to challenge the system? What is this "system" that you speak about?
3. I buy a lot of digital goods with BTC, and I do a bit of altcoin exchanging. For physical goods, I still prefer to use fiat currency.
4. I follow the /r/Bitcoin and /r/BTC subreddits, as well as some news sites like CoinDesk and CoinTelegraph. For the most part, the media covers Bitcoin news in a semi-responsible way, but it's always good to double-check the source of news regarding cryptocurrency.
5. There is no profits in mining anymore, so I buy Bitcoins, and find alternative ways to earn them, such as Freelancing sites like XBTFreelancer in exchange for services.
6. At this point, there aren't too many major threats that I can foresee. It takes a whole bunch of people to influence any kind of major changes in the way that Bitcoins are utilized, but I will say that until Bitcoins can be used hastily to make a transaction for physical goods at a retailer, it will never become "mainstream".

Hope this helps.

1) Why are you using Bitcoins? Do you consider them as an important part of your life?

I am a trader and spare a few hours on this forum daily to earn bitcoins. I do consider them an important part of my life as it's virtual money.

2) What bitcoins are about to you - is it a way to challenge the system?

I use it to save taxes and as many people use it due to the ease of transferring coins to a wallet, I prefer bitcoins to any other wallet. It is much better than using banks, PayPal, Payza and so on as it saves the transaction fee too. It doesn't have any restrictions and is irreversible. It's a great competition to fiat.

3) How often do you buy goods with bitcoins? Did Bitcoins change the way you buy/sell goods in general?

I am a trader and even before learning about bitcoins, I was used to buying and selling digital goods. I don't use bitcoin debit cards and hence nothing has changed for me. It's not accepted by shopping portals online and hence it hasn't made it easy to buy/sell goods.

4) What about the press, do you follow the coverage on mainstream media about bitcoins? Do you think that the coverage is portraying the issue in a responsible and precise way?

Mainly the media just exposes bitcoins as a currency used for illegal purposes but I highly disagree. Even fiat and gold have been used for illegal trades and bitcoins are not responsible for the rise in these trades. I just don't pay attention to the media coverage.

5) Do you use mining as well or just buy Bitcoins?

I just buy bitcoins online.

6) Do you perceive any threat to the Bitcoin system? If so, which would those be?

If it's termed as illegal by the law, that would make me stop using it. Also, if it's controlled and it loses its volatality, that would also be a threat to the bitcoin system.

Goodluck with your report. Here are my stands:

1) Bitcoin is my additional option in sending and receiving money. Because it far less hassle than to those my other usual payment system,  I always use it regularly. About being important part in my life? Just in my financial part of my life.

2) What is your thoroughly mean here?

3) Like I said in my answer no. 1, because it far less hassle to use, it really change my ways of buying and selling goods in all terms.

4) Sometimes depends on the news.

5) Not involved in a direct mining. Im getting bitcoin thru bitcoin jobs especially trading, sidejobs like signature campaign and any other misc methods.

6) Price volatility.
