There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

if by light weight you mean SPV wallets you should take a look at the Electrum project it is available for both bitcoin and altcoin separately (i think with different developers also)
here is the Electrum (for bitcoin): https://electrum.org
here is for litecoin: https://electrum-ltc.org
there was also a Reddcoin electrum
and also a Doge electrum which was abandoned if i am not mistaken!
Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

You can download a SPV bitcoin wallet on https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet. If you see "Simplified validation" in the description of a wallet, it would be a lightweight wallet. Some examples are MultiBit HD, GreenBits and Electrum.
