But beside that some devs will have a place as well.
Gregory Maxwell is definitely one of them. Others who have my greatest respect are Pieter Wuille aka "The Machine"!!

Bitcoin is kinda like a Harley Davidson; Harleys sound awesome and the more after market chrome thrown on one, the better they look, but Harleys are high maintenance!  One will always need a mechanic to keep the booger on the road.  Bitcoin's the Harley and Maxwell is just one of the mechanics that keeps it chugging along.  Satoshi is credited with the concept design.
