EDIT: Solved.  unplugged dvi and used remote by teamviewer, I can only view the screen 640x480 but I can close the app without hangups now.

-------------------
I just put together a small rig and the miner works fine running it but if I go to close the miner it locks the computer up and I have to force a shutdown.  I think it is a graphical issue of some sort.  I have 2 R9 290 reference card hooked up to pci-e x1 powered risers and it is older lga 775 hardware with win 8.1.  On my other 775 machine with 2x hd 7950's I do not have the issue and works flawlessly.

I have the machine using video from one of the cards, I think the issue goes away if I force video through integrated hardware but I have no control over the cards, so I cant see temps, change fan speed, or undervolt in msi afterburner.

Hardware specs

Intel E7500 cpu
4 gm ddr 2 ram
250 gb hdd
Intel DQ45CD

R9 290 reference cards 4gb

powered usb risers 16x to 1x

amd 15.12 drivers

--------

Hopefully someone has experience with this kind of issue, I would be happy enough to just use integrated graphics but gain control of the gpu cards if someone knows how to do that.

Reinstall driver makes no difference.  No bsod the screen just locks up then goes black and the PC is stuck so I have to do a hard reset at that point.
