Not really that much BTC mining related, this question. You might want to lookup XMR/Monero inside the Altcoins section.

Look at Magi. The varying block reward depending of the network blockchain can make it very profitable by some moments.

For my overclocked i7 4770, it's this. Basically roughly in the ballpark of $0.20/day.

You'll be burning more money on electricity costs than earning from mining.

hodl is not that good anymore, price is tanked to the ground, you can try also espers, both should have the best cpu profit, but nothing exceptional

but at least they are not in botnet mode like monero...

Any X11 coin has been a LOSS to mine with a CPU for years.
Even GPUs are real marginal now with the recent introduction of 3 different ASIC miners for X11.

Mining Ethereum with a CPU is.... not a good idea, again you're going to LOSE money.

Best bet is to watch announcements of NEW coins, mine them for a while before they get GPU-mineable, and hope the price shoots up at some point.

In my case, cpu mining Ethereum won't loose money, since I don't pay for electricity.
I have several servers which are idle, just looking for something to do...
Just need to find an Ethereum CPU miner to run on Linux...

Not sure if there is a LINUX verion, but that Multiminer thing has CPU support for ETH.

 Might also look into FoldCoin.
