Hello guys,i've wasted the last few days on the puzzle,and I still haven't made any real progress.

I've practically given up,so I guess I'll try to give out some information that I found useful.

I mostly tackled the text adventure game,checking out combinations on the keypad,by combining the information from the qr codes and wikipedia articles.

I think that the sentence "The journey inward begins here" is very suspicious.What picked my curiousity is the fact that inside the game you are specifically told that the map holds the key. When you check out the map,you get the clue that "The journey inward begins here".
The "" at the beginning and end of the sentence means something.It's used so it can seperate the needed sentence from the unneeded information.The part inside is a code,further evidence of it being the fact that without the spaces,its length is 26 letters.

I tried decoding "The journey inward begins here" with http://www.dcode.fr/tools-list#cryptography most of the tools listed here,however most of them needed something like a keyword to have relevant results.

I also think that there is a magic number in this puzzle,and that is 26.
It pops up way too many times,you can find it everywhere.
There are 26 letters in the latin alphabet,so apparently you can assign a letter to a number,hinting at the use of substitution cipher.

What if you crop out the white triangles from the picture?Could the result be a usable code?There's no evidence to support that,but I was curious about it.

Anyways,I wish you guys good luck,I know that most of the things I posted are conjecture and speculation,however I'm not that good in puzzle-solving.I actually haven't spent time on the puzzle in like 3 days,so most of my theories are blurry,but I thought that they could be of use to someone else.

Suspicious indeed since it repeats in various places. The only match I could find online of "The journey inward begins here" is in an Amazon review of the album "A Passage In Time" by "Dead Can Dance":
http://www.amazon.com/Passage-Time-Dead-Can-Dance/product-reviews/B000S5DY00?pageNumber=2

Perhaps we need to use track titles, lyrics or the review text somehow, e.g. as decryption key?

Or cross-reference track titles or lyrics with the other hints, e.g. with “The dragon guards the key.”?

Hey, I just found this logic puzzle. It looks similar to the painting. Could something like this apply?

http://m.imgur.com/YOTyZMD?r

Edit: I had a chance to look into this further. The image I posted seems similar to a soduko puzzle, and soduko puzzles even use numbers 1-9. I've never played soduko, so I'm not much help here.

I'll add a few brainstorms and things I've noticed...

- Most of the texts in the QR codes mention 'Iron'
- One that does not is QR5, but that one has the Magic Portal's text from Mars/Iron
- QR5, QR6 and QR9 all could describe the cell in which the game starts
- If the Aztec code needs to be manipulated, the dots and triangles could indicate which manipulation is needed for each dot.

Going on that... moving the dots in the direction of the red dot or of the triangle did not produce anything useful for me, though I've only tried moving 1 position (and not things like: Top Right triangle = 2 steps in the direction of the red dot)

Based upon the Jason and dragon references, some of the words I've tried are:

- Ladon, ladon, apple, apples, golden apple, golden apples, sheep, melon, golden fleece, Hesperides, mala, mela

Given previous puzzles a keyword more related to the bitcoin domain would still not surprise me though: Days destroyed, Generation A could still be hints.

- The overall painting looks like an Aztec code and has several QR's embedded... it doesn't mean that what's hidden is hidden using QR: I'm still considering binary, morse, braille.

Stuck and unsure which direction to go at this point and what parts of the available information are relevant for this stage (no luck with any of the approaches so far):

- use content of the qr codes?
- anagrams?
- use the markings?
- use the pipes?
- decode the aztec as something else? (since no proper orientation markers, and apparent improbable symmetry suggesting it might not be an aztec code)
- select appropriate pixels from the aztec using markings or pipes, and decode entire code? (the aztec core does not contain proper orientation markers though)
- select appropriate pixels from the aztec using markings or pipes, and decode part of the code? (the aztec core mode message indicates 2 layers and 7 data codewords, so presumably the keypad code is <= 7 characters)

Any opinions or hints to narrow it down?

A phone pad?
1=0
2= ABC
3= DEF
4=GHI
5= JKL
6= MNO
7 = PQRS
8 = TUV
9= WXYZ

Triangle orientation could determine if it's A, B, or C. So, 2a would be A, 2b would be B, and 2c would be C?

Was just looking at my phone and thought of this. Not sure how it would apply to the squares that have four letters.

I haven't had much time to spend on this, but isn't this a modified pigpen cipher? Everyone has exhausted this possibility? Could we all share the different variations of pigpen cipher we've tried?

I like the sudoku suggestion. That does trigger some ideas. But before I go down a sudoku rabbit hole... I think we should consolidate the most obvious choices for a basic substitution cipher. And make a list of all the strings that have been checked to date.

Is this your idea bro.? Because you are a very smart.

And this is interesting:
Quote
At the end of each level there will be a prize in Bitcoin.

Everything you need to know is currently found in the cell you're trapped in and a high resolution image of the map can be found at http://whit3r4bbi7.com. If you can't see it or interact with it, it's because it serves no purpose at this stage.

Certainly a nice puzzle. but i do not know how to fix it,
Can you teach me how to do those puzzles? I'm easy to learn. okay you could teach me, thank you in advance

Another attempt:

- Consider the blocks as pigpen. Squares with Top Left triangle = a...i (top row = abc, middle = def, bottom = ghi), TR triangle = j..r, BR triangle = s..z (+ empty)
- "the journey inward begins here" If you want to journey inward, where do you begin? On the outside.
- The outer ring of the Aztec codes has 26 blocks, just like the number of letters in "The journey..." is 26.
- Where to start? First try: Top Left going counter clockwise (conform Aztec code)
- The outer ring then 'pigpen decodes' to: ohvxcptuzuryqfwvrvrfskkgqg

How then to transform:

ohvxcptuzuryqfwvrvrfskkgqg into:
thejourneyinwardbeginshere Huh

It could be done using a One Time Pad or Vigenere (Vigenere with a key length equal to the message length is equivalent to an OTP)

ohvxcptuzuryqfwvrvrfskkgqg -> vigenere_decrypt(varoovchvwjluffsqrlxfsdczc) = thejourneyinwardbeginshere

I was hoping to find a more readable key, like dragon, fire or goldenfleece...

But anyway, let's try thhe next ring:

jahyto?xwwajhn.... and decode with the 'varoovchvwjluffsqrlxfsdczc' key from the outer ring: oaqkft?qbaryni...  Undecided Embarrassed Huh

Several assumptions have been made:
- pigpen -> abc
- starting top left
- counter clockwise
- vigenere

So many variations could be tried.

"Scrawled" on the back of the map is "The journey inward begins.... Etc."

Maybe flip the map over horizontally? Vertically? Both?

Work from there? Could be useless of course. Wink

I'm literally lost with this puzzle. I once checked this puzzle out when it was just a fresh thread but I easily gave up because I was going literally no where. Tried out your suggestion about flipping the map and still not a clue. I guess these things are really not for me.

Just noticed the text adventure was last updated on 13 Jun

http://textadventures.co.uk/games/view/5craldfdmkkzngf1davsna/days-destroyed-level-1

maybe something significant was changed?

edit. ok just noticed that "x cell door" now works as expected and you don't have to do "x door" anymore. Don't know if something else changed

I'm guessing this hasn't been solved yet. Has anyone solved it?

I'll try to give it a shot. Hopefully there's 1 BTC at the end of this.

You can simply use the object initial letter and it will accept the command.
Example: "x d" = "x door"

You can also use this to "bruteforce" all visible objects in the room, by typing:
- x a
- x b
- x c
- ...
