Level 1 has been SOLVED with the entry of a correct keypad code. Doing so has kicked off a 30 day timer prior to the Level 2 opening. I'll drop a few hints during that time to help folks catch up:

Hint #1: The keypad code is derived entirely from the triangle + dot code. That and the URL for the text adventure are the only pieces of info needed from the painting to complete Level 1.

Any hints on roughly how long the final code is?

Hint #2: The final code was surprisingly long (> 100 characters) with all caps and no spaces.

Well, that throws my brute forcing scheme out the window.

Depends on how you implement your brute force - the text game checks the keypad code using an unprotected POST.

Yeah, I was using a custom tool to check for variations of my guesses, but I would never imagine that a "cell key" would be so big.

* we (micaman, rock_collector, a couple others, and myself) were using different notations for the squares; I am 99% certain that the above is correct but translating between the two is irritating.

note what i pasted my have now got carriage return added to get it to fit in the forum post so paste it into notepad and remove any spaces to be a single endless line of text (which is how i entered it)

though i feel we are in the total wrong direction..
the ABD may not even be ABD.. it might be NW.. NE SE  (northwest, northeast, south east.) or something completely different to represent the triangles

seems the guy saying he solved first level is just poking the bear and doesnt have the answer and is just trying to 'bump' the topic

Assuming mirth23 is being truthful, I would think we would have to apply a substitution cypher before we get anything meaningful.

I dont think thats how these games work anymore. Not that I can verify whether or not the door is open.

Only I didn't understand if the prize was actually claimed by mirth23 or if it was merely moved as a part of the treasure hunt and the endgame is actually in levels to come

When I said the "6b 7a 8b.." was 'correct', what I meant is that it is an accurate mapping of the 26 unique dot+triangle combinations that can be used for simple substitution, I did not mean the answer is literally "6b7a8b..."

Level 1 was solved and a 1 BTC prize was claimed. It looks like the game is set up with prizes per level.

My goal is to help curious people along without just giving the answer outright. Besides, there's 22 days left before the next gate opens.

Hint #4: The code is nonsense. This is why frequency analysis has failed.

I suspected the key to this was to lay out 3 grids with letters A-Z like this:

Grid1:
|A|B|C|   
|D|E|F|   
|G|H|I|   

Grid2:
|J|K|L|
|M|N|O|
|P|Q|R|

Grid3:
|S|T|U|
|V|W|X|
|Y|Z|  |

Then the triangles (a,b,d) would represent grid 1, 2 or 3 and the dot simply selects the letter.

(That would also explain why you don't see 9d since you run out of letters.)

But I've tried many combinations to no avail.  I've always been trying left to right, top to bottom though.  Perhaps there's a different order.  Spiral inward?  Am I close?

It turned out not to be a spiral.  Left to right, top to bottom was the way to go.  The mapping you choose is what's important.
