No.

People are afraid of something that was created of thin air, 0's and 1's. But this is a misconception.

The sequence of 0's and 1's has a history behind it. A few brights minds of our specimen created an elegant algorithm.

Those folks had courage, dedication and independence to create this program.

A very good money was created. Portable (you can always carry your wallet with you). Divisible (8 decimals). Durable (forever). And rare.

Online poker gamers, drug dealers, hipsters, investors, startups. Like it or not, those are some new overlords. Uuuuu-hay!

Bitcoins will not save the world... too fast. This will take time. The deflationary effect will ultimately create a healthy system of essential and valuable goods. Like spacetrips.

For me Bitcoins are more real and tangible that the money that I have in my bank. For the first time I feel that I own something of value that (if I'm precautious) cannot be stolen from me.

Bitcoin is the first of it's kind. A new kind of currency.

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

Just to make an interesting point: if Bitcoins did not have some initial value, no one would have spent the resources to mine them. So everyone who says Bitcoins are worthless are clearly wrong.

Maybe bitcoins are worthless to them, but I'll gladly give you a $10 bill for one. They have value to me.
