I think crypto is the future. A lot of us on this website obviously do.
The major problem is that there is no safe coin atm. Bitcoin is still moving a lot (as we have seen in the last days) and altcoins are highly manipulated by some whales.
I told my family cryptocurrency was the future, take car of it and be ready. But I would not advise them to invest right now.

I vote no.

If they are extreme speculators then they might be interested. Otherwise I don't introduce them to any of it and advise against it when (rarely) asked. Pretty much the same for Bitcoin BTW, though a small allocation in Bitcoin as a hedge against "I don't even know what but hedges are a good thing" isn't bad.

I voted no. I dabble in altcoins for entertainment purposes only and I do not think any of my family or friends would find this entertaining at all. I have odd tastes.  Cheesy I'm probably a masochist. I wouldn't advise anyone to take up smoking either, even though I smoke 2 packs a day myself.

Buy and hold long term?  Definitely no.  If you want to make some BTC in altcoins, learn to trade.  And a good mindset on the learning process and working hard really counts for a lot.  Getting into trading and having a million dollar pipe dream will only bring you a lot of disappointment.  It's not totally about the money.

Yeah, sure. To the friend that fucked my sister.
Or the in law that I hated.

Or maybe that cousin that owes me money  Grin

But seriously, if I care about you, I'm gonna tell you it's kryptonite unless you are an experienced trader with a guardian angel of money in attendance.

Hey Spoetnik bud how are you man Cool

My family is in fact posting on Bitcointalk and know them coinz

~CfA~

Not bad.. been working on restoring Bikes for summer time
and getting balls deep into learning Android APP cracking  Cool
Both have been coming along well.. getting nice results !

Oh yeah and of course spreading FUD here at Bitcointalk Wink
Ever heard of Monero ? ahahhahah HAHAHHAHA

Ok but ya uhh seriously though.. my family members showed interest back in 2013
for one reason only.. PROFIT.
A couple of them seen NOTHING of use or value at all in ANY of this except making PROFIT.

My sister who is good at posting on Facebook wanted me to show her how i made money with ALT's in late 2013 for example and i said like geez it would not be easy.. it would be a lot to learn !

Then.. my brother back around the same time showed the same interest and i started by
giving have about $980 in Bitcoin as a gift then said go and register at Bitcointalk + Cryptsy etc.
Like ease into it read lots and pay attention to what is going on.
I am pretty sure he did nothing about it all and as far as i know he still has the Bitcoin sitting in his wallet.
I made sure to get a wallet installed on his laptop and showed him how to back up his wallet.dat

Problem was though is he laughed in my face and said "Fuck Bitcoin !"
and went on to say "fuck these stupid coins" ..he doesn't care about any of this dumb shit
he said he just wanted to make money off of it all.
I was seriously disgusted and disappointed and rather surprised buy his vile attitude.
In time i guess i see where he was coming from.. it's just sad.
Because this is actually what the majority of people here in Crypto think.. but few have the balls to admit it.

These kind of people are a cancer to Crypto and toxic for the over all community world wide.
They contribute nothing and are really just vultures looking to suck money out of the system.
And these type of users couldn't care less what damage they cause in the process.
Even if it destroys crypto it's self.. they couldn't care less.

Those types of users are not in the same league as me.
They are lower class dregs of society that contribute nothing and are disposable / worthless.
And i sure as hell will not be taking attitude or opinions from losers like this.
Don't you dare spout of cocky Noob account trade "Wisdom" to me profiteer investards.
I don't want to hear it.. you are morons and know fuck all.

I always said i have at least some respect for guys that TRY.
In 2014 people stopped even trying to make it look good.
Since so many greedy retards were flooding in they were in the position to be able
to get mouthy cocky and ballsy about it all and brag about making shitcoin clones etc
If you were here and remember there was an overall attitude of "So what.."
Fuck it all who cares lets clone coins !
And these fucking losers got all cocky & mouthy about supporting them saying so what i want profit fuck it all.

NOW ?

Time went on and as i predicted.. the scene tanked more & more.
Then as i predicted these shitheads had no choice but to change their attitude publicly.
And one by one you all around here jumped on Spoetnik's coat-tails
then started prancing around with this whole "i don't like shitcoins" FAKE attitude.
But in reality you ALL STILL DO !
If these scene did not die off because of it you would all still be supporting them.. all obnoxious like.
Like for example i recall arguing with you all about how bad & useless Doge coin was.
I made a topic called "Why Doge coin is bad" it was VERY popular
and you all had a run at me trying to argue.. it went dead silent eventually.
AFTER you idiots killed the scene !

If a new flood of noob user show up like late 2013 you anti-shitcoin loud mouths
will swiftly go right back to MAKING + Supporting shitcoins in a heart beat.

So.. at least my brother was honest about it.. more than many of you can say here.
And if you are NOT one of those people ? Then simply disregard my comments.
I was clearly not trying to put down people who genuinely & sincerely care about Crypto tech etc.

We need the profiteers to take their FIAT and fuck off..
Then we need to have them all replaced by sincere supporters of Crypto.
This is the only honest, constructive & sensible solution to the future health of Crypto.

What we managed to do was attract average users to Bitcoin for PROFIT reasons.
When what we REALLY needed was actual real-world users who want to *USE* a digital currency
..not just make profit off of one of them.

We did not witness the birth of Crypto Currencies..
We witnessed the birth of the Digital Pyramid scheme.
Two entirely different scenes playing out.

Cryptocurrency has a brilliant future, but picking the winners will always be a challenge.

Yes, I would advise family and friends to invest in altcoins but only after understanding the risks. My mother has recently started investing in Goldcoin, but I have cautioned her to be diligent and conservative in her approach.

The hidden gems are where you'll find the greatest returns, but also the greatest risks.

I'd explain to them that all cryptocoins including Bitcoin are a risky gamble and can go to zero overnight, thus it's a necessity to spread gambling bets over several coins to preserve betting capital.

No , I would not advise them to do anything , that they were not really interested in or inclined to research on their own.
Sifting thru the BS and falsehoods spread by the devious & the clueless , is not something I would want to subject them too.
We are in the Wild Wild West of Crypto, which means there is a swindler around every corner,

Having said that, I have traded stocks in the past and done well, at a family Christmas, my brother informed he had also done well in stocks.
He still does quite well with stocks to this day, my other siblings never touch anything like gold or silver, they played it safe with pension plans and savings.
Just as he does not call me with any hot stock tip, I don't PM him with every crypto, and we both know our siblings could care less for either.
Fact is we are all Grown ups and will make up our own minds, on what we want to invest in.

However if asked, I would do as you did with your family and give them as much info as I could, but as you know, we can not impart every thought we have to them.
And they have their own separate ideas of what an investment should impart to them.

FYI:
I will tell you this ,
when everyone (like taxi cab drivers or your next door neightbor) start telling you how great crypto is :
That is when you had better sell.

I think it all hinges on your intent..

Different types of users such as the family i mentioned.

We have players in crypto who care about profit and nothing more.
And come on get real people.. look at what humanity does for a dollar on the streets.
Crypto is no different.

It's about integrity and personal responsibility.
I quickly had to face the issue showing up here and make a decision(s) fast !

I have had opportunities i knew would make me money but i refused to *support*
a coin i was positive was of "poor quality" ..simply to profit from it.
How many of you would do the same ?

Believe it or not i am not against making money.
I am against sacrificing things you should not for it.
It's just common sense really.
Your little voice should tell you what is right or wrong.. you don't need me to lecture you all about it.
And yet i am  Grin

Because a HUGE part of the user base in the Crypto world are criminals and morally bankrupt.
I'd rather be poor & have some level of integrity and class.

I think the decline of the Altcoin from it's late 2013 level is mostly from..
The actions of the majority when no one is looking.
In other words all it takes is the majority to support *a little* bad coins.
This has a collective tsunami effect on the bigger picture and FUTURE !

It's up to users to make a reasonable effort to do the right thing.. or we will ALL suffer.

So i will not tell my friends or family to join the Altcoin scene.
Why ?
Because it revolves around nothing but Profits.
This can't be helped because the majority does this and the majority hold control.
This derails the efforts of the minority who may be making a sincere effort(s)
Such as MicroGuy who has been on an old school GoldCoin shill LOL
But i respect him for it and how he has stuck it out and plowed on.
If i was him i'd be pissed off that the ICO shitheads are staining the Crypto scene
and in turn sort of staining his coin and BTC etc too.

No 1 crypto coin can exist in a bubble by itself !
They are all perceived by the general public is linked together in some respects.. for good or bad.

Anyway.. sorry more rammbling guys Wink
And yeah i of course read your comments.
