This seems silly, but I'm having a difficult time finding where I can receive LTC payouts to. Does it not work the same as BTC, with websites offering wallets? I'm mining through the Ozcoin pool.

Why not set up an account on btc-e.com and use that as your LTC wallet?

https://btc-e.com/exchange/ltc_btc

If that works then I'll certainly do that. It looks like a great site, thanks.

Does someone know what would be the cause of this error?

I've been using BTC-e as such for several months, however the website is unavailable very frequently; I'm talking hours, daily. So, has anyone found a good offline wallet?

I use BTC-e and a "paper" wallet. There's also Litecoin-Qt if you like.

I have paper btc wallets, guess I'll figure out the ltc ones. Can Litecoin-Qt be run concurrently with bitcoind or bitcoin-qt without effect? Not meaning to hijack the thread, but it may solve the problem.

An LTC address is not a mining pool API key. You need to find a pool, register, and point your miners there.

I think so, since it operates using a different port.

i typically run multiple QT coins at the same time. works just fine.

Can someone explain the Litecoin wallet to me in laymans terms?

I made an account here:
https://btc-e.com

It should be easy enough to buy some Litecoins, but does that website store them for me?  Do they give me a Litecoin address so I can hand that out to others who might want to pay me in Litecoins in the future?  Or do I need to prepare a Litecoin address somewhere else?

I am going to try to use this thing here as well:
http://liteaddress.org/

I also downloaded the
litecoin-0.6.3c-win32-setup.exe

and I can't figure that thing out.  (I tried setting it up for mining, but gave up, especially once I found out it's probably useless unless you have a dedicated specialized computer).

I did as much research as I could before asking these newbie questions.  Most places just don't have detailed directions.  Anyone who can help me with some of my confusion is much appreciated.

OK, then is there an online LTC wallet, or one that doesn't require me to download 300K blocks

What's the problem with downloading the chain?

I am surprised at how many people don't use offline wallets...

I normally do use offline wallets, at-least that's what I do for BTC...

I just don't want my computer to download the entire blockchain right now, I want it to be mining or running DoTA

The LTC chain is way smaller than BTC, doesnt take that long.

You could use BTC-e for small amounts, but if we are talking 1000+ LTC then use a real wallet, encrypt it, and back it up at least 3 times.

I'm dealing with less than 100, most of the time less than 10 LTC

Get a client - many thousands of coins have been stolen from BTC-e users a few days ago. There's many other examples of why you should not trust online services. Bitcoin-24 & Instawallet, are two recent examples in bitcoinland.

I haven't tried it but there's a litecoin version of Electrum if blockchains are an issue: https://github.com/litecoin-project/Electrum

Keep clam & hodl on
