I tried to use the old version 0.3.19 and I get hundreds of connections. I once got abuot 800, freaked out and closed it (I only used 0.3.22 before) It also does not quit until killed when I close the GUI client.

With the 0.3.22 however I get 4 connections at most. It also quits nice.

Why are these things? Can't newer clients connect with the older ones? Or it's some kind of DDOS ongoing?

Also, is it safe to use different versions with the same db/wallet directory? I downloaded some blocks with 19 and some with 22, doing it from scratch...

Honestly I have no idea whether it would, but I personally would not take the risk of screwing up my wallet.

Just giving you a bump.

it's because the newer versions use #bitcoinXX for finding clients, where XX is a random interger. The old client just used #bitcoin.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
