If you can buy bitconi anonymous, without any id, than its good and might be worth paying more than exchange fees. If ID is required, I prefere to stay with exchanges, as prices there will be considerably cheaper than in the newstands for sure.

But this may be a great service for attracting everyday people, who are the ones that Bitcoin needs to take off.

Moreover, Blueshyft is owned by the nephew of Rupert Murdoch

Was thinking what a great move for bitcoin and then I see Murdochs name attached to the story and want to puke.
Either way I hope this brings more people on board and hope the idea spreads to other countries that could easily adopt the idea.

So looking at Blueshyfts site:

and backed by Murdoch Media

Bitcoin.com.au is one of the Bitcoin exchanges in Australia who wants to bring cryptocurrency to consumers all over the country. By partnering with fintech startup Blueshyft, this concept will soon become a reality. Moreover, Blueshyft is owned by the nephew of Rupert Murdoch, whereas Bitcoin.com.au is a subsidiary of Global Internet

The red highlighted is the part of it I don't like.
I bet Murdoch put his nephew up to it, very sinister if you ask me, a front man for corrupt bankers and cohorts.

And its gone.

And what will they do with the bitcoin? The article does not say the newstands will accept bitcoin as payments for their products. So if they only sell, not accept, then i dont see the point. Its like saying, buy bitcoins from as for your fiat for extra charge, but we are not interested in accepting bitcoins, as they have no use for us.

When buying from exchanges, you first have to provide the ID, then wait to get verified before you're allowed to buy/sell and you have to use one of the payment methods accepted by the site which further delays the procedure, whereas when buying from over the counter, you can do it instantly, even if ID is required (which I am sure it will be) many will still prefer to buy bitcoins this way, I just hope that cash is also accepted. As for the fee, it is mentioned in the article already.

A minimum amount of AUD50 will have to be purchased at a time, however, which will be subject to 4% commission.

If everything goes according to plan, the two startups expect to see as many as 15 million transactions in the first year. That means every news stand would need to complete at least 34 Bitcoin transactions per day
Big expectations, can't see it happening myself.

I could not imaging the old greek bloke that runs my local news agency even knows what bitcoin is let-alone knows how to complete a transaction, are the backers behind this going bitcoin tutorial courses too.

Very cool.   Surprised that it's newsstands that are doing this.  There aren't many of them left since the internet kinda sorta put newspapers out of business.  It's ironic.

Innovative implementation of how bitcoin can be popularised in public.
There was always a notion of not buying or trading with Bitcoins in Australia but this approach serves it right.

I hope there will be ATMs rising up soon.

It is a odd pairing for sure. Its not like they are going to hook a young generation into buying the newspaper when they are interested in bitcoin.
Those interested are getting most of their news online and most likely not even cable subscribers.
The days of old rich men manipulating the masses through a newspaper seem to be drawing to a close.

It actually makes sense. Since the Internet put them out of business, they're trying to use it to their own advantage Wink

It will remain to be seen if banks can survive of lending when the

money printing parade runs out

But their is a lot of other fundamentals at work also

sometimes shops continue to operate if they are

attractive for hot women, because the boss can still

pimp them out at parties or to their rich mates

and that itself can be more lucrative than the shop

operations,

mass unemployment has created all kinds of niche

markets Cheesy

I don't see the problem here, unless the bitcoins are being bought for shady stuff. You probably use ids for almost every other thing so why not this? Anonymity is overrated.

not everyone can be unemployed they have to keep some Ponzies going

Gov is another good one, they have way to many people on the books

in this electronic age and have made fake departments of all types

less they have to sack thousands of women and lose their wives

n daughters to other employers
