And what will they do with the bitcoin? The article does not say the newstands will accept bitcoin as payments for their products. So if they only sell, not accept, then i dont see the point. Its like saying, buy bitcoins from as for your fiat for extra charge, but we are not interested in accepting bitcoins, as they have no use for us.

When buying from exchanges, you first have to provide the ID, then wait to get verified before you're allowed to buy/sell and you have to use one of the payment methods accepted by the site which further delays the procedure, whereas when buying from over the counter, you can do it instantly, even if ID is required (which I am sure it will be) many will still prefer to buy bitcoins this way, I just hope that cash is also accepted. As for the fee, it is mentioned in the article already.

It is a odd pairing for sure. Its not like they are going to hook a young generation into buying the newspaper when they are interested in bitcoin.
Those interested are getting most of their news online and most likely not even cable subscribers.
The days of old rich men manipulating the masses through a newspaper seem to be drawing to a close.

But their is a lot of other fundamentals at work also

I don't see the problem here, unless the bitcoins are being bought for shady stuff. You probably use ids for almost every other thing so why not this? Anonymity is overrated.
