July 4th is not when the pizza gets passed out, but when you get paid an extrordinarily high amount of bitcoin just for doing something as mundane as delivering a pizza, or running a program on a laptop, or in this case, posting a story or link or just upvoting a post. It's a celebration of the lucrative early days of bitcoin.

https://steemit.com/steem/@tuck-fheman/steem-life--vol-4--random-shit

Those dollar values you see are how much in bitcoin they will get paid out on July 4th.  after July 4, the difficulty increases making it harder to mine, just like what has happened to bitcoin over the years

The guy in the link is looking at 100 bucks just for drawing a comic. Pizza delivery is much more perilous!

If we want to bring bitcoin to the masses, then we must market it positively, and celebrating the fun and free early bitcoin years is the perfect way to show the people just how innocent and harmless and fun that bitcoin was as a kid. Bitcoin is all grown up now and is like the 40th largest organization on earth by marketcap, and people hate large cap companies nowadays so its good to remember bitcoin as a fun loving youth with a small marketcap.

This looks more like it should be under this section of the forum? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=84.0 Also looks like the promotion of a Alt coin by the looks of that website. I do not see how this site link to the celebration of the Bitcoin pizza event at all?

Correct me, if I am wrong. ^hmmmm^

Re-live the most endearing Bitcoin rags to riches story on July 4th to help promote bitcoin to all the people of the world who don't recall the early days when a mere tasty pizza on the spot could net you 10,000. Share your favorite Bitcoin story and have a slice!

https://steemit.com/steem/@steempower/top-50-posters--analytic-and-charts-from-arhags-data

That story was the story I share with my friends. It is also the story that encouraged me to go on with bitcoins. I don't really have a bitcoin story myself that is inspiring and will inspire others. But I will just want to say that since I engaged in bitcoin I discover many potential income opportunities. From zero to hundreds of dollars I journeyed and earned bitcoin without touching a single cent from my pocket. So in short bitcoin has helped me in my financial shortage.

I remember when I heard about the 10.000 dollar pizza back in the day and it blew my main, I was still ignorant to not only bitcoin but stocks and how stuff can high and down in prize like that. It helped me putting things into perspective. Whoever got the BTC for that pizza will feel like shit if he already sold instead of holding.

I think he already is feeling like that, I don't remember his account name in this forum but he is not active anymore here since 2012 I think. Now there are two possibilities one is the one you are saying which is he is still regretting what he have done to death or maybe another possibility which is , or he may have moved to some exotic island enjoying his fat stack of cash right now. Hopefully he have done the second option but with a high probability he may have sold his coins.

It's a celebration of the lucrative early days of bitcoin.

Describing the early days of Bitcoin as lucrative is a bit misleading. Of course it was easier to obtain a significant number of Bitcoin. However you should remember that Bitcoin was only valued at fractions of a cent back then. So paying BTC 10k for a pizza wasn't squandering of some elitists, it simply reflected the market perception of Bitcoin's value.

Without the pizza deal and many others in the dim and distant past, Bitcoin may have never succeeded as a currency. All the value appreciation compared to fiat and goods is an indirect result of prior dealings using Bitcoin as a currency.

That's a nice story, the most famous one, I guess. And yet I don't think it woul make a lot of people happy if btc fell to that amount in price during the halving period)
