sportsbookreview website is deleting any thread about bitcoin in their forums.  The threads about btcsportsbet, bit35, and blockbet have all been deleted.

Lots of ads on sportsbookreview that are for traditional sportsbooks.  One can only assume that bitcoin and bitcoin sportsbooks are a threat to their affiliate money.  sportsbookreview gets a % of losses from bettors when they sign up from sportsbookreview to a traditional book like bookmaker.

This shows the power that bitcoin has.

ur right i cant find any btc threads, i guess the next logically move is for them to advertise a btc book, but with the  personality of most btc folks, seems  we tend to stay away from greedy corporations , might be hard to get a btc book to sign on.

The issue isn't their scared. The issue is no BTC sportsbook has a affiliate program. I would have been added a BTC bookie to my website as well if one would just add a affiliate program. Nobody wants to work for free.

The Op is correct.

We had a long dialog with SBR, and they started the review process. SBR John was given a test account and 10 (real) BTC. After multiple emails explaining how it works, and how he can bet or move the BTC anywhere, he just could not grasp it and never followed though with a review or rating.

The OSGA (OffShore Gaming Association) had no problems with the site and has mentioned us favorably multiple times, and they take money from traditional books as well via ads, but SBR is just scared, there is no other explanation.

We had several positive threads on SBR that have now been removed, it's a shame.

We even asked about an Ad up top and never given an accurate price.

It's not the lack of an affiliate program, we were willing to give them one + normal ad rates, and they declined.

SBR is scared because bitcoin threatens their business model.

SBR gets paid for affiliate signups and get a percentage of net losses for their referrals. Traditional sportsbooks verify client name and address details to validate deposits/withdrawals and therefore have a link to a real user. Most bitcoin books don't track their players like that.

The recent BetIslands scandal just shows how dirty the relationship between SBR, TheRX, other forums with similar business models are to traditional sportsbooks.

SBR was more than happy to spend time talking to us. It never worked out but there was a real chance of doing business and they are in no way scared of bitcoin. Whatever is going on, you haven't figured it out.

if bitcoin becomes the defacto model for anonymous gambling then SBR would stand to lose everything because it is hard to be an affiliate with anonymous people Smiley

Perhaps you should try again bud.

Maybe they talked to you because you deal with poker, not sports.

They stopped talking to us over a year ago despite the pressure from many of their users for a full review of btcsportsbet - even after setting them up with tests accounts and real BTC and giving SBR John a full explanation.

And maybe they stop talking with you because your homepage sucks? Just comparing your homepage to other sportsbooks.

I think they see it as a threat to their business model and they are trying to suppress it.

I was the OP on probably the most successful bitcoin thread there. They pulled the thread a total of four times. The second run had 5500+ views and nearly 200 replies. I think we helped a lot of people get into bitcoin. I never got a clear reason as to why they kept pulling the threads, but they did make it clear that I should stop reposting them.  It's a shame because there was so much great information to help regular gamblers become Bitcoin gamblers. I was thinking of posting the screenshots in the newbie section here, but I couldn't find a way to host the pics full-res.

I really believe that Bitcoin's "Killer App" right now is the ability to offer gambling to Americans, at least at this early stage of Bitcoin. The market is huge. The amount of hoops an American bettor has to jump through is unreal. Bitcoin has the potential to be a panacea for them, they just need to be made more aware of it. If Bitcoin had some solid full-featured Sportsbooks, Exchanges, & Casinos paired with an effective marketing campaign, Bitcoin would EXPLODE in popularity.

It is a matter of time elgreco. We can't say much yet but since the OSGA already reported we are working on a deal with a prominent US-facing book, we can say it will be exciting times.

After that we'll see if SBR can keep burying bitcoin, I doubt it.

BitBook.biz has launched an affiliate program.

We are the first bitcoin sportsbook to offer an affiliate program to members of the bitcoin community!

  • BitBook affiliates will receive instant commission every time one of their referrals places a bet.
  • Affiliates will be able to see up-to-the-minute information on how many users they've signed up, and how much revenue they've generated.

SBR is not slashing bitcoins as bitcoins, it's slashing the bitcoin sportsbooks because they can't afford to pay the hefty fees. Same goes for other sportsbooks. We have ran a regular sportsbook for quite some time in the past, and we had a lot of negotiations with SBR and at the end of the day it always came down to large monthly sponsorship fees. At the time they took a fixed monthly fee (5-15k USD) + 5-8% commission on all of their players.
