I always use bitcoincharts.com to get an overview of the market. Unfortunately it is down right now.
Is there a similar site?

There's bitcoinity and clarkmoody that I'm following.
Tho the mtgox API is lagging again... so not sure where we're really at.

Why in the world would you need charts to measure something that has "no value"? ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150098.0)

bitcoin-analytics.com Unfortunately we piggyback on bitcoincharts data stream for trade data. So only orderbook data are available now. Looks like it's time for us to start getting trades using exchange APIs directly as bitcoincharts doesn't have good capacity planning to absorb high traffic spikes.

When something has no value you need those charts to give it value. Pretty simple, huh?

Thanks. Bitcoinity is quite neat even though I too go to Bitcoincharts normally. But at the moment, Bitcoinity it is.

When all the charting sites are down (like today for instance), I find it useful to go straight to the api pages: https://mtgox.com/api/1/BTCUSD/depth. Its not pretty but at least the page loads

Bitcoinity is pretty much the best companion site for realtime MtGox trading Clark Moody also, they complement each other nicely. But for some reason CM hasn't been able to connect at all for the last couple days.

that's the problem - moody goes down when gox is down, since it uses real-time worker connections.

Of all the alternatives proposed in this thread, I think bitcoinity is the most reliable.

I agree. I just started using it, but it doesn't seem to get completely flaky when lag goes up and has the ability to correct itself without a refresh much more often than clarkmoody. I still like to watch clarkmoody when things are running smoothly though.

Then it will rush to catch up, which makes for interesting viewing. Plus, if you ever watch it during a crash or during a run up to a new all time high, you'll see the gif's, which are hilarious!
