First time miner, so excited to get new miner
Avalon 6 miner with 1200w power supply
New unit from China. Arrived with in two weeks.
Packaged will and everything I needed in the box.

Went through the straight forward connections
Log in and see the miner is not working
Go into advanced and see the connection has failed

All powered on
Fan Running on power supply and miner
Miner goes through start up - fan to full power and back to idle
Green flashing light on miner - this means trying to detect mcu and fan
Usb adaptor ACU LED is blue, which means stand by.

Advanced settings
Cgminer API Log
Socket connection failed - connection failed

I have gone through basic checks
12v on all connections
Rasberry Pi powered on and working correct
Changed out some usb cables

Maybe firmware issues?
Any feed back would be great!

On the status screen does it see miner?  Did you get a kit with RPI with your miner or did you make it from image online? If so what image did you use?

Might be of some use long ago was my setup - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1257327.0

Does not see the miner
Screen has nothing
Came with a full set up
But also tried with a image sent from the seller in China
I have seen the guide, I will try the image posted.

Always says connection refussed

Very frustrating
Seller has agreed to test the unit or return to manufacturer
This is a lot of money in Shipping and a lot of down time

I would like to sort it myself to avoid this.

How do I post pictures?? I am new to forums.
I would like to add screen shots to make my problems clear

With being new you can't post them where you can view them on board.  But you can post a link to any common image site and upload your images there.   Then just post link on here.

My image is old at this point but is set to DHCP and should connect automatically to networks with DHCP server (pretty much all home routers).  Just make sure to enter your pool info in after as it does not come filled in if I remember right.

Have you looked at it in disk management assuming your using windows? Obviously be very careful if you select your computer HD instead of SD card.... huge issues.  But it should show SD card and partitions on it I believe.

What were you using to put image on SD card?  I really like win32diskimager -  https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ .  There are many instructions out there for it, but it would require a SD card big enough for image (so fixing sd card first).

disk management shows 20MB on a 8GB SD card

i use SDformatter v4.0
and for images win32 disk imager
Normal stuff.

where do you live?  I will mail you a good sdcard with a good image if you are in the usa.

furthermore  I will program it with a working pool  so it will be plug n play.

but before we do anything at all do you have a full kit to setup to?

avalon 6 >  4 pin wire > dongle > usb wire > rasp pi > eth cord and power to rasp pi

I also have a question if you are usa based why did you buy it from china?

there is no way my offer in the marketplace is not a better deal for you.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1501205.0

I am not angry that you purchased in China and had it shipped to you.  But I am interested to know why?

As I said I will make a good card and mail it to you if you are in the states.

This may sound stupid to some advanced users... But it may help you, somehow, some way.

Normally, since I've been mining, I've never been able to put my units where my router is for a direct connection. I've always bridged a laptop connection with a miner...

For whatever reason, my upstairs computers REFUSE to make my Spondoolies SP20's, or my Antminer S7 work. I have an old netbook and my custom rig as the "bridges"...

Recently, I ended up running an ethernet cable from my router, into another room for use with an Ethernet switch... Low and behold, no connection issues, whatsoever. Antminer S3's work fine on any of the connections, but for some reason, the SP20's and S7 would not bridge properly. The only common factor I saw was the "lighttpd" thing, where the login is different on those particular units. For whatever reason, their firmware (or whatever) refused to connect that way. Only one of my computers can bridge them properly...

My point being, plug the Avalon DIRECTLY into the router, or into an ethernet switch from the router, or some such. It worked on some of my particular units. It may fix your connection issues. I really hope that helps! Smiley

I have to say thank you for the offer
But I am in NZ / New Zealand
So buying from the states is normally very expensive for me
I brought a full set up including a server 1200W power supply for US$580 with free shipping
Which is very cheap in NZ , also we don't have import tax
Normally I do not have any problems with products from China

I am normally have no problems with my IT work
Very strieght forward connections and set up
But still not working
I have sent back to China at great expense
The China reseller said he has shipped me a new unit and will send my defective unit back to the factory
But nothing heard in a few days ....
I'll up date everyone once this is resolved and hopefully start mining!

Next topic is a wifi bridge with a raspberry Pi so I can set miners up in my shed / garage

Thanks all

This item has been resolved
Sent to China
A week later returned

Did not work.... Lots of playing around  with images for the Pi from the Internet and I have it running!

Running low hash rates on antpool only 3.2
Which is disappointing

Using a netgear wifi bridge to have is set up in spare room

Thanks all
