There are a lot of physical storage solutions available online including physical bitcoins and alts.
I am thinking of buying a few but how do i know that should i want to peel the coin in a few years that the private key will still be legible to read.
I'm not a chemist or scientist but paper without oxygen cants be a good thing. Will the private keys on casascius coins be redeemable in 5 years and plus?  Huh

Casascius released his statement of controls when selling his coins. This lists the efforts he went through and details the assembly process. You can find it on his site: https://www.casascius.com/controls.aspx

It's a good idea to use acid free paper to print the private keys.

This is why we engrave our private keys on our Minted Seats.

FWIIW:
I got my hands on two newly redeemed casascius coin this week, the coins are a little more than 3 years old.
The private keys was in perfect condition, no signs of deterioration or fainted color.

Cryptography is one of the few things you can truly trust.

The engraving keys is a good idea. I like it. Does anyone know if the casacius coin also has acid free paper or is it normal paper. What about other coin makers on here?.

This is an interesting topic. Not sure how i ever missed it, owning a couple of nastyfans coins myself, makes me even more impressed in that operation, and happy to be a member!  Cool

As for the paper. I've tried googling about it in oxygen free environments, and it sounds like it can degrade over time, but I found the results basically inconclusive, and I also don't know what kind of paper Mike used. Tongue

Mike used laser printing on the private keys, which ensures that the color won't fall off after a shirt period of time. It's more about the ink than the paper used.
